❝ with you it's the complete opposite ❞
Emerson Diors didn't always like the Weasley Twins. Their pranks were unbearable. Their attitude left much to be desired. But after their first and second year, they taught Emerson how to...

Emerson was bored at home. She was exhausted and irritated and she definitely knew it wasn't from hormones. It was from lack of attention.
While the twins wrote to Emerson almost everyday, Coralie spent all of her time at work. When she wasn't working, she was sleeping. And when she wasn't doing either, Emerson had no idea where her mother was.
The days Coralie had off from the Ministry were far and few between, but Emerson was thankful that today was one of them. As usual though, she had spent most of the day running errands around London but promised that she would be back home no later than four o'clock. Emerson was okay with that. But eventually four turned into five and five turned into six. It wasn't until six forty-three in the evening that the front door knob jiggled and swung open.
Emerson sat on the couch in the living room, feet propped up on the coffee table and Bandit in her lap, as she read the latest issue of Witch Weekly. Coralie gave Emerson a huge smile and lifted a large shopping bag in the air. "Emery dear, while I was out I found this adorable jacket that I thought would look darling with that striped top you bought."
Although Emerson was curious about what was in the bag, she raised her eyebrow at her mother. "Is that the reason you're over two hours late?"
The smile never left Coralie's face as she set the bag down on the table and leaned down to kiss the top of Emerson's head. "Think of it as an apology gift. I got a bit side tracked."
Behind her the front door swung open again, and a tall man with brown hair and brown eyes walked into the house. Bandit immediately hissed and scrambled to Emerson's room. Emerson's magazin slipped from her hands as she looked at the man, struck with confusion.
"Emery, you remember Remus, right?" The amount that Coralie was smiling was starting to freak Emerson out. "You saw him last year?"
She nodded slowly as she remembered the night he came for dinner last summer. "Hello," she told him as he hung his jacket on the coat rack.
"Well, he's staying for dinner tonight, alright?" Coralie kicked off her shoes and began walking towards the kitchen. "We connected again after he–"
"Read one of your articles in the Prophet?"
"You are quite the mind reader now, aren't you?"
As Coralie and her friend began sorting things out for dinner, Emerson picked up her magazine and huffed. She was slightly irritated that she didn't receive a proper explanation about why her mother was so late, but it was nice to see her smiling as much as she was. The smell of steak and potatoes filled the house as Coralie and Remus began cooking. Emerson's stomach growled loudly, most likely from not eating anything since breakfast. After a short while, Coralie called from the kitchen, requesting that Emerson begin setting the table.
During dinner it was mostly quiet. The only things spoken for awhile were requests for salt or the water pitcher. But soon the conversation turned to topics of school and work. Emerson had to admit that Remus was a very friendly person, she just didn't quite understand why he was here. Coralie had many friends that Emerson knew of but it was very rare that any of them came over.
"So, Emerson," Remus folded his hands on the table after he finished his food and smiled at her.
"Sorry, I go by Emery," Emerson corrected.
"Right, my apologies," Remus continued to smile. "So you're going into your fifth year?"
"Yes."
"Your OWL year. I remember mine," Remus chuckled and scratched at his ear. "It was quite an interesting time. Is there any subject that you are most excited for?"
Emerson shrugged and thought about it for a moment. "Maybe Charms or Potions," she said thoughtfully. "Flitwick says I'm good with spells and I've been very interested in Potions this year."
"Interesting," Remus nodded along as she spoke. "I thought Professor Snape would have made Potion's a dreadful time."
"I guess Snape isn't all that bad when he's not teaching," Emerson told him. "At least he doesn't seem that way to me. He was very helpful towards the end of the year."
For a moment, Remus looked shocked. "Oh, that's very interesting," he then turned to Coralie. "Cora, have the winners of the contest at the Ministry been announced yet?"
"Oh, yes," Coralie turned towards Emerson and smiled again. "Did you hear that the Weasley's won the Ministry's contest for seven hundred galleons?"
"Yes," Emerson thought back to the letter she received from George yesterday. "They're going to go to Egypt to see their brother Bill."
At first when she read his letter, Emerson was a bit sad. It meant that she wouldn't be able to see the twins as soon as she wanted to. But she was assured by her George that the moment they came home she could come visit.
Really, Emerson just wanted to see George again.
