~Near's POV~

I was anxious to see Gevanni again. After all, who wouldn't be? It'd been months since I had last seen him, and a long-distance relationship wasn't exactly easy for me.

So when the black Lincoln pulled into the Wammy's House parking lot, and the black-haired, blue-eyed male stepped out, I ran from the door straight into his arms. "Hey, babe," he said, catching me and picking me up. "Someone's energetic today."

"You have no idea," I laughed, and then saw Lawliet standing behind us, by the door, awkwardly waving. "Come here, Lawliet."

Gevanni smiled. "How's our little boy doing? Good, I imagine?"

I huffed and glanced at the gun and it's holder in his waist. "He's my successor now. But there was... a situation... and I need to talk to you."

"What is it?" He questioned, and I looked into his eyes.

"Gevanni, I love you, you know. And I trust no one else's opinion over yours. I need your help with getting revenge on a Wammy's kid."

Gevanni looked shocked. "You want me to deal with one of the Wammy's kids?"

"Not exactly... but you know, Lawliet is the closest thing we have to a child, and we promised to protect him."

Lawliet cleared his throat to make his presence known, and Gevanni put me down. "H-hi, Gevanni, I'm Lawliet," he shyly introduced, and Gevanni smiled.

"Hey, kid, I'm Gevanni," he replied, "I've heard a lot about you from Near. I remember when I was on the Kira case with Near and your parents were still alive. They were really brave, and it seems like you're no different."

"T-thank you," Lawliet managed, and I chuckled.

"Why don't we go inside?" I suggested, and we all walked into the institute, kicking everyone out of the game room to have a private discussion.

Lawliet started playing Nintendo games so Gevanni and I saw down to talk. "So, are you going to tell me what happened?"

I nodded and lower my voice so Lawliet wouldn't hear me. "Law was raped by his runner-up. Light Yagami's son."

"No..." Gevanni mumbled in disbelief.

"Yeah. After all of my promises to never let him get hurt... it still happened. Thank god, I caught him in the act the second time, but Hikaru... he has this mentality that he has to to dominate Lawliet. I saw it when I caught them."

"I'm assuming you can't just kick him out."

"Of course not. You know how much hate we would get for that? And Roger would never let me do it. No matter how badly I want to. Lawliet's traumatized. If I'd only been there sooner."

"It's not your fault. And I'm sorry I haven't been here," he apologized, "I'm done with the FBI, SPK, all of that. I'm here now."

"Thank god for you, Gevanni," I said, "Without you, I'd be 100% stressed, 100% of the time."

"Aww, babe, don't worry," he said, "And call me Stephen, we're alone. I only changed my last name because I liked Gevanni better than Loud."
