~Lawliet's POV~
Gasp, pant, heave.
I looked around me, unsure what part of the orphanage I was in anymore. It was a storage room with random supplies in it, but I'd never seen it before.
I looked down at my hands, which were violently shaking involuntarily. "C-calm down," I said to myself, my voice cracking into a sob.
There were still traces of blood on my hands, and I wasn't wearing any clothes whatsoever.
Calm down.
I tried my utmost best to help myself breathe properly, but I was so mentally broken in that moment that I just physically couldn't control my own actions.
I felt so alone, and isolated. Monster... you're a monster.
"Lawliet!!" Near called from outside the closet, his voice going further as he passed the room.
I want to die... what is this? This feeling of... guilt...
I huddled into a ball and sobbed, letting my emotions get the better of me. "I'm the worst..."
~Near's POV~
I sat down beside Gevanni in the game room, straddling his lap and toying with his collar. "Well, since I can trust Lawliet with his safety, and he's gone... maybe you and I can have our own little fun."
Gevanni placed his hands on my ass, pulling me closer. "Oh? What kind of fun?"
I rolled my eyes and tangled my hands in his hair. "Don't tease, babe," I mumbled, and he laughed.
"Sorry, you're just too cute."
"I am not cute," I argued
"Yeah, you are." Gevanni replied.
"Nuh-uh."
"Uh huh."
"What are we, twelve?" I laughed, and Gevanni pressed his lips to mine. We kissed for a moment before he pulled away abruptly, looking worried. "What's the matter?"
"I... heard something..." he whispered, and my eyes widened.
Lawliet.
"Come on," I said, quickly running to the bathroom, before stopping outside the door. Gevanni nodded as noises could be heard inside, and we rushed in, knocking the door open.
It happened again.
I wasn't thinking. I grabbed Gevanni by his belt and grabbed his gun. It was the first time I'd ever felt so livid, and I knew I was going to regret this. I took the safety off and pointed the gun at Hikaru, squeezing the trigger. I saw Gevanni's eyes go wide as he reached out to stop me, but it was too late. The bullet had fired and hit him in the stomach, and Lawliet took the chance to take him down as Gevanni grabbed me and held me back. "Let go of me, Stephen!!" I screamed, and he huffed.
"Calm down, Nate!!" He replied, and I kicked as and flailed my arms, trying to escape his grasp.
When I saw Lawliet, sobbing violently and punching Lawliet's already injured body, I motioned towards him. "Fine. I'll calm down. Just help him."
Gevanni set me down and went to Lawliet, shaking his shoulders. "Get ahold of yourself, Lawliet!!"
It seemed like he snapped out of a trance as he looked at Gevanni and then ran out the room, still without clothes. The room went quiet and I looked down at my hand.
"G-Gevanni..." I began, "I just shot him."
He nodded. "Yeah, I know."
Tears ran down my cheeks. "I... I shot someone. That's... we need to take care of it."
Gevanni took the gun from me and knelt to my level. "No matter what, I'm going to protect you and Lawliet. Don't worry about it. Go protect your son."
I sobbed and hugged him before wandering through the halls of Wammy's House. "Lawliet!" I called repeatedly, to no avail.
He probably wants to be alone.
Jesus... I shot Hikaru Yagami.
~Gevanni's POV~
While Near went to find and console Lawliet, I began to clean the bathroom. I started by covering Hikaru's open wound with my shirt. Then I started cleaning the splattered blood. It was disgusting, but it was for Near.
"Okay," I whispered to myself, "Now the gun."
I took a cloth and wiped the gun clean, and then put my own prints on it. If someone was going to jail, it would need to be me. If the word got out that Near, the World's Greatest Detective, was a man that would kill, then the world would fall in worry. And I was willing to sacrifice my life for my love.
When I was sure everything was cleaned, I looked over at Hikaru's body. It was already white, and I knew that we were screwed.
Hikaru Yagami was dead.
~L's POV~
Light and I stood with A, tension undeniable. "What do you want, you piece of shit?"
"I want B." He immediately answered, and I rolled my eyes.
"You're a psychopath. He doesn't want to be with you." Light replied.
"I want my B." He repeated, "And {Y/N} has him."
"He went to {Y/N}, you do realize that, right?"
"She took him from me."
"A," I said, "You need help. You were such a good student, but I think that because you were the first person to be under the Wammy's House--"
"Don't talk about that hell."
"Wammy's House didn't do anything to you. You chose to do what you did. Yeah, there was a shitload of pressure on you. But you knew fully well what you were in for when you signed up."
"You took B from me."
"You separated yourself from B." I insisted.
"No, it's not true," he hissed, "I love B."
"You think you love B." I explained. "He was the person you loved when you died. But he moved on, A. You need to accept that."
"No!" He yelled, charging towards me. I dodged in time, and turned to kick him in the back. He fell forward but quickly recovered and tried to punch me.
"Listen, kid," I said calmly, "Whatever it is that you're trying to prove to yourself... you're going mentally insane."
Light pulled my arm to help me dodge another hit and then whispered. "I'll stay here. Go to {Y/N}."
He pushed the Death Note into my arms and pushed me away. "Run, L!" He yelled, and run is exactly what I did.
Okay, L. We got a psychopath fighting your boyfriend and {Y/N} is having a mental breakdown. No pressure.
"It's okay." I said to myself.
"After all, what's the worst that can happen?"
