Joining the Team

~{Y/N}'s POV~

"It's so quiet, huh, Law?" I said to the small baby crawling around in the living room of our mostly empty house.

The baby merely crawled towards me and made inaudible sounds. Mina, who was staying with the two of us for the time that Matt and Mello were away, came and laid down beside Lawliet on the floor.

"Your uncle and your dad are so stupid, Law. Leaving your mom and I all alone and going to a completely different country." She complained, and I sighed.

"I know. We should do something really stupid just to piss them off."

"Ha, Mello can't be mad at you, Mrs. Keehl. He's too in love with you for that."

"Well, I could say the same for you and Matt. You're always on his mind."

As Mina snickered at my comment, the phone rang. "I'll get it." I said as I grabbed the handheld cordless phone that was located in the kitchen. "Hello?"

"{Y/N}?! Listen, something happened to Mello. I need you to get on the next flight to New York City and come as fast as you can."

My heart stopped in my chest. "What happened to Mello? Where is he?" I practically shouted, and Mina looked at me in alarm.

"He's been involved in... An accident. You'll see when you get here. The next flight to New York is in 2 hours. Can you make that? I'll book you a ticket."

"I'll be there." I said, "Are you okay, Matt?"

"I'm... I'm fine. Mello's not exactly alright, though. Don't worry, he's alive. I'll see you when you get here." Matt quickly said. "I'm gonna go, but I'll pick you up at the JFK Airport in New York. See you then."

The line went dead.

"What happened?! Is everything alright?" Mina asked, getting up from the floor.

"Mel's been in an accident. I have to go to New York. Listen, can you stay here with Law?"

"Y-yeah, o-of course... Is Matt okay? What happened?"

"Matt says that he's fine, but I don't know what happened. Matt seemed to be in a rush, though, so I'm gonna go pack some things. I've got a flight to catch and I've only got 2 hours."

I ran up the stairs, shoved as much as I could into a luggage set, and went back downstairs. "Okay, Mina, let's go." I ordered, lugging the suitcases behind me and putting it in the trunk of Matt's car.

Mina put Law into his child seat in the back seat and got into the drivers seat, letting me sit in the passengers. She pulled out of the driveway and literally sped to the airport. I got the luggage out of the trunk and began to say goodbye. "Bye, Law, I'll see you soon, okay? Be good for Aunty Mina. I love you." I said as I kissed the baby boy's cheek.

Then Mina gave me a big hug and kisses my cheek. "Be careful. I look forward to seeing you again."

"God forbid something happens to us, you and Matt have to take care of Law, okay?? I'm trusting you."

"I swear. I'll see you when you guys come back home. Love you, {Y/N}."

"Love you, too, girl. Bye!" I said, dashing to the gate and checking my luggage into the plane. I kept my carry-on and purse with me, and went through security while worry took over my brain.
