~Lawliet's POV~

Myra was unlike any other girl I'd ever seen. She was... fire. Warm, and comforting and bright. So when she asked to get coffee so we could talk, I couldn't say no. Still in the suit, we walked over to a nearby cafe and got coffee, sitting down at a table more isolated from the crowd.

"I never knew that Uncle Matt had a kid," I said.

"He didn't tell your parents, and everyone died before I was even born." She explained, smiling down at her mug. "It's funny... you've probably got a deeper connection to my old man than I do, all due to time."

I shrugged, unsure of what to say. "I mean... I'm sorry."

She chuckled, locking eyes with me. "It's not your fault."

I didn't reply, breaking the stare and looking towards the floor. She looked at me with a concerned glance and nudged my foot under the table. "You okay?"

I shrugged. "It's cause Near died, and today was the funeral, so..."

"Aw, I'm sorry for your loss," Myra sympathized, placing her hand atop mine. "Well, I guess that means I've arrived in perfect time then."

"What..?"

"You see, Lawliet, I'm here for one reason and one reason only," she stated, leaning in and smirking, her red lipstick making her lips bold and noticeable. "I came to live in Wammy's House."

~{Y/N}'s POV~

"Truth," Mello chose, lying down on my thigh.

"Umm..." Matt droned, trying to come up with something to ask. "Oh!! Name 3 dudes you'd have sex with."

I laughed, looking down curiously at Mello for an answer. He looked a little thoughtful, as if he were analyzing the best options. "It'd have to be..." he finally spoke, "{Y/N}, if she was a dude, then Matt, then Near."

"NEAR?!" both Matt and I yelled, and Mello laughed nervously.

"He's small, he's not exactly ugly, and he's a bottom," he explained, and I nodded in agreement.

"Then what about Matt?"

"Matt's my best friend," Mello said firmly.

"Yeah, we're practically already married to each other." Matt agreed. "Hell, I'm mostly into girls but if Mello had asked before you guys hooked up, I'd totally have had sex with him. It's like I can imagine it, too. Shit, I would agree to bottom if it was Mello that wanted me to take it up the-"

"Hey, paws off my man," I joked, and then straightened myself up. "I'm next."

"Truth or dare?"

"Dare," I said almost immediately, and Mello chuckled, a smirk plastered across his stupid, sexy face.

"What is it, Mihael?" I sighed, knowing that it would have to be something perverted.

"I dare you to-!" he began, only to be cut off abruptly by B running towards us, the smile on his face being the only thing keeping us from freaking out. "What is it, B?"

"We found him." He said, gasping for breath. We had been a little further away from where L was, however, he must've been in a hurry to be wheezing like he was.

"Him...?" Matt echoed, and then my eyes widened.

"Near."

~Lawliet's POV~

"So, Myra, you want to be my Watari?" I asked.

"Essentially, yeah, but you see, I'm not a Wammy's kid, so it won't be easy." She said.

"Nothing's easy when it comes to Wammy's House, but I think I can get you in. After all, if you're Uncle Matt's kid, then there's no way that they wouldn't let you in. They'd kill to have those genes back home."

"You barely know me, Lawliet," Myra chuckled, placing her chin on her hand. Her hair fell and framed her face like the petals in Georgia O'Keeffe's Red Poppy.

...Jesus, I sound like an art enthusiast. Not that it's a bad thing, but...

"So? Wanna go home?" Myra asked, interrupting my thoughts.

...home...?

"Uh, I can drop you to wherever you're staying, yeah."

She laughed and then shook her head. "No, silly. I mean Wammy's House."

Uh, oh.

I cleared my throat, knowing that it would be impossible to convince Roger to let someone new in right after the death of Near, but her eyes were so... solid, so adamant, that I stood up, motioning for her to follow. "Let's go home then, shall we?"

We began walking to the bus stop, and somehow, I was excited to go home. The entire day had been solemn up until Myra came around. By the time the bus came, the sun was starting to set. And by the time we got back to the orphanage, it was dark. "How about we talk to everyone tomorrow? I can stay in your room." Myra suggested, yawning and stretching.

I blushed and shook my head. "Don't think that's a good idea."

I would never do something like that, but...

She looked at me with confused, and then playful eyes. "Oh, Lawliet, I didn't mean it like that!! Your dorms have enough space for two people, right?"

Oh, right.

"Uh, yeah, sorry," I agreed. "The room's this way."

We walked in awkward silence to my room, which was a little messy from the hectic morning I'd had. "Listen, I know it's messy, but it's not like this everyday, I promise."

Dumbass, dumbass, you should've cleaned everything this morning!! You look like a slob right now!!

I motioned for her to sit down as I moved hangers and cologne bottles around, trying to make the room look decent. She sat down and I continued to clean. When I heard sniffing, I looked at Myra to see tears flowing from her eyes. "Eh? What's the matter?" I asked, concerned.

She wiped her eyes and smiled. "It's the first time in a while that I've been on a bed."

...the first time in a while...?

My heart dropped and immediately I knew that somehow, somewhere, the world had changed. And now I knew who I had to live for to protect.

Just like Mom and Uncle Matt, Jeevas and Keehl were reunited once again.
