At End's Gate

PLANKS FALLING DOWN

She walked down the passage, opening the doors and looking inside the many rooms. James was with Conner sharing strategies in the guy's room. Erin had gone to take another shower. Paige thought it was probably to relieve stress. She walked exploring the rooms and looking at the graffiti on the walls. When she got out of one of the rooms she noticed Lisa in the passage. She was seating on the floor with her back against the wall. She was on her phone. Paige called out to her but she didn't respond. Her head seemed to be bobbing. Paige then concluded that she was listening to a song. Lisa was a bit further down the passageway. She heard a rattling noise. Paige then felt the sudden edge to look above the place Lisa was seated. The place being old had most of its ceiling torn out. The planks normally covered by ceilings were visible. The planks were loose and they seemed as if they were about to fall." Lisa!" she shouted." Lisa," she called out walking toward her quickly. Lisa couldn't hear her. Her face was buried in her knees as if she was asleep but her head kept on bobbing. She was lost deep in song. Paige then noticed a plank that was about to fall. She started running toward her. Paige reached her. She quickly shoved her out of the way. Lisa was stunned. She paused her phone and then noticed what was going on. The two planks had already started falling. She quickly stood up and had the time to get out of the way. Unfortunately Paige didn't jump out of the way in time. She let a scream as one of the planks narrowly missed her. The other didn't show the same mercy. It hit her on the head and she fell down. She could only hear Lisa scream. She closed her eyes. A few seconds later she heard a male voice call out to her. She then felt the person carry her. Just then she lost sight of what was going on in reality. She went out cold.

A few hours later Paige finally woke up. She noticed Lisa with her." Hey," Lisa said looking at Paige. Paige tried to sit up but Lisa pushed her back down." No you can't get up. You should rest. You might have a mild concussion but you're okay." Paige sighed a breath of relief and gave a weak smile. Lisa smiled back." I scanned you for any possible hemorrhage and possible internal bleeding that might damage your brain," she said showing her the phone medical scanner she used," you just need rest and a lot of fluids."

"Okay."

"Paige thank you for saving my life."

"It's okay," she replied weakly," where are the others?"

"Alexis is cooking with Blake. She wasn't going to leave his side. He got terribly shaken when he came out into the passage seeing Conner carrying you unconscious. He's fine now. James, Erin and Conner are checking the house and making sure an accident like that won't happen again. I stayed to make sure you wouldn't strain your body when you wake."

"Okay."

"Besides that I wanted to thank you Paige. You literally risked your life for me. I'm forever grateful."

"You're welcome. You're my sister. I'll do anything to protect you," she said slowly.

"How's the pain? I'm guessing your headache isn't merciful," Lisa said stroking her hair.

"It's a bit painful but the pain is bearable."

She nodded." Let me go tell the others you're awake." Lisa went out of the room.

A few minutes later Blake entered the room with Lexi." P," he said gently.

"Hie."

"Paige you scared me today. I actually thought you were going to leave me on my birthday," he said short of breath.

"I'm not leaving you just yet. I'm gonna be there for you for quite a long time. Lexi hie," she said looking at the strawberry blonde haired girl.

"Hie Paige," she said her red eyes gleaming joy that she was okay.

Just then the door opened and James, Erin, Conner and Lisa entered." Hey how are you feeling?" James asked his sister.

"I'm okay," she smiled.

"You put us through quite a scare," Erin commented.

"Yeah Paige you scared me. I thought I, we lost you," Conner said shyly.

"I'm sorry but don't worry. I'm fine. I'm not leaving you guys any time soon. Plus how could I let myself die on my brother's birthday? I'm hungry," she said before giving a weak chuckle.

"Oh let me get you food," Alexis said before leaving the room. Lisa followed her. They brought the food and they ate. Paige fell asleep shortly after.
