They continued moving. Now they were on their way to the West. The moon shone brightly. It was their only source of light. Everything for now was calm. Paige was happy. She was under Conner's arm as they walked. Blake was laughing with Lexi. James was talking to Lisa. For once in life after a very long she felt happy. True authentic happiness. They walked for a while. They reached the Western shelter. The place was big. They had agreed to use a school. It seemed as if most of the people were gone. The west was mostly deserted but one could see lights and movement in some houses. The school was completely deserted. They chose a room to sleep in. They took out their candles and lit them. They ate and called it a night. Paige fell asleep. Conner took watch. Paige slept well. She dreamt of how Conner didn't die. The thought of it made her smile even in her sleep. The thoughts she used to have that made her decline from having a relationship with Conner were gone. Nothing made more sense to her than being with him. Truly he was her epic love. Erin was her first love but Conner was her epic one. She dreamt of her state when Conner was presumed dead. It felt like she had died. Every piece of her was broken, every fabric of her heart shattered. At first she couldn't breathe. She could feel herself die too. When he coughed out the water Paige felt overwhelmed with the feeling of joy. She felt awake. She felt reborn. Conner loved her and she loved him. She dreamt of the kiss. It was magical, like something she longed for. It was long a due anyway. The boy had worked hard for her to love him. She felt like Conner was made for her. The thought of finally being his after a long and messy ride of complications made her joyful. She dreamt about their experiences together, the complications they faced. The fact that Erin was there, the fact that they were in the middle of a crisis and the fact that Paige was pushing him away. Last but not least the almost impeding death. To her that was the rude wake up call. Paige then opened her eyes. Conner was sitting near her by the corner." Hie," he said with a wide grin.
"Hie."
"I'm guessing you were dreaming of me?"
"Why?"
"You were smiling throughout."
"You flatter yourself don't you?"
"Weren't you dreaming of me?" Conner eyed her with a smile.
"You wish I was dreaming of you," Paige smirked.
"I know that smile. It's the smile of someone dreaming of the guy she stalks," he said before laughing.
"Hippo!"
"Now you're calling me that. Didn't you call me your tiger?" Paige blushed." You called me your brave and hot tiger."
Paige laughed." I didn't say you were hot."
"Aren't I?" Paige just remained silent looking at him. Conner laughed." Wow the tables are turning. I'm the one who now has an effect on you."
"No," Paige refused," I have an effect on you."
"Prove it."
Paige gave a smirk." Okay." She let out her best smile. Her hair was untied flowing to the side of her flawless face. Conner gazed at her. He just stood there quiet. Paige was giving her best genuine smile. She laughed." I told you so."
Conner laughed." That wasn't even fair. What do expect me to do when you smile like that?"
Paige chuckled." I expect you to keep your cool."
"How many times have I told you you're beautiful?"
"Many. I've lost count."
"Good. I'm doing something right." Conner stood up and helped her up." Dance with me."
"Are you crazy? The others are sleeping."
"We won't wake them."
"Okay," Paige said as she allowed Conner to take her hand. He led her to the corner of the room.
"You ready?"
"We don't even have music?"
"Oh that can be arranged," he said taking out his phone. The song Wings by Birdy rang through Paige's eardrums. Conner held her right hand with his. He then placed his left hand right above her waist. They began to sway slowly to the rhythm." I love you Paige Sanders. You don't know how long I waited to dance with you."
"I love you too," she said.
Conner smiled." Say it again."
"I love you Conner White." Conner then closed the gap between them with a passionate kiss.
After a while they went back and sat down talking. Paige then remembered something. Her face became a bit timid.
"What's the matter?" Conner asked.
"Nothing. I had almost forgotten about the letter I saw in that box. We have to go to a location on it."
"Okay we'll go tomorrow."
