Paige woke up. She checked the time on her phone. She woke up in the middle of the night. Paige was now feeling better. The migraines had gone. She pulled herself up. She looked beside her. Lisa and Alexis were sleeping. There was also a bottle of water near her. She drank the water. After drinking she started walking quietly out of the room. She didn't want to wake them. The door was opened a bit. As she was about to open the door she heard two voices talking in the passage. It was Conner and Erin. She was curious to hear what they were discussing so she decided to eavesdrop.
"Thanks for going to help Paige, Conner."
"No problem."
"I'm seriously grateful. You really do take care of her."
"Yeah, why wouldn't I." He paused for a moment." She's a beautiful soul."
"Yeah she is. I actually feel angry at myself for being a jerk to you."
"Dude don't even worry. I'm cool with it. I can't say I was even nice to you."
"Yeah," Erin chuckled," I actually thought of you as an arch nemesis."
"Why?" Conner laughed.
"I don't know. I just competed with you for no reason. I think that's what helped me to keep my grades up. It was stupid I know."
"Not even. We all do it."
"I can't believe my arch nemesis is now my good friend."
"Yeah."
"Conner, I think I know."
"Know what?"
"It's quite obvious. The way you cried out her name running to her. I was just entering the passage when I heard you. It's clear to see that you love her," he said his voice in a gentle tone.
Conner took time to answer." What's not to love about her? Honestly I do love her. She's extraordinary. She's compassionate. She's brave. I love her but because I love her I'll never be selfish with her. She loves you and I respect that. I'm so sorry dude. It just happened. She paved her way into my heart."
"Dude don't worry about it. I won't hold it against you. I perfectly understand. Obviously it's uncomfortable to know you are into my girlfriend," he laughed a bit," but you're there for her and that's all I needed, to know that she's twice protected."
"Wow you're really a nice person. I really appreciate your kindness."
"No problem."
Paige then heard footsteps. She ran back quietly to her sleeping spot and faked sleeping. They both entered into the room. Erin went up to her." She's stunning isn't she?"
"Yeah she is," Conner responded.
"Don't worry. She's deep in sleep. I love her."
"I love her too," Conner responded with his gaze fixed on her." She loves you and I'm happy that she's happy with you."
"Thanks." Erin and Conner then walked out.
When the door was closed Paige opened her eyes. She looked up. A sadness she couldn't comprehend encompassed her heart. It hurt because she loved both of them and she was hurting them. She had to choose but according to Conner and Erin her choice was simple. It had to be Erin. She had history with him. He had been there for her for quite a long time. He had experienced hell but the thought of seeing her kept him hopeful. Even in her own mind Erin made sense but a part of her thought of Conner too. Conner always managed to calm her down even when he was hurt. That always managed to hurt her even more. His soul was beyond compassionate. Another option was letting them both go. Neither one of them deserved to be in a relationship with her. To herself she was a broken girl. She didn't like this girl who seemed to be torn in between two men. It wasn't moral of her. The best way to save herself was to let both of them go but the thought of Erin's experiences ran through her mind. He had to be literally broken. He wasn't showing it but it was obvious. He was more than damaged. How would he get over Paige leaving him? Conner had accepted that he had to let her go but James' prognosis was true. She herself couldn't let him go. Paige finally decided to let time itself tell whom she would end up with.
