The room fell silent for a few seconds. "I'm prepared. I'm brave enough," Blake said.
"I'm ready," Lisa said with a determined look on her face.
"Lexi?" Paige looked at her.
"I'm willing to do anything so long as we survive this," she said with a serious tone." We lost a lot and I'm willing to face the fire to get out of this prison."
Paige smiled." Sweetheart we did lose a lot but I'm grateful that you guys were added into our lives. I don't think my brothers and I alone would survive this."
Lisa came and held Paige's hand." Personally I wouldn't have even reached this part still sane without you."
Alexis stood up and hugged Lisa and Paige. They released each other from the hug." I'm so proud of you girls. You are really strong." Her gaze turned to Conner." Which way can we take?"
Conner took Blake's phone and tapped a button that made a hologram image of the city be seen by all of them." If we leave we can head East. He pointed at a house. This house has been vacant for years. Blake and I researched ownership records. The house was an old warehouse. It's actually dilapidated over the years so I think it's a good safe space but as we journey there we use the houses of people who ran to the gate. We take supplies. We stay for a while then we leave. After a few days at the Eastern safe house we go to the central part. There we can stay in the houses as well as most of them are now abounded. Then vacate towards the west. There we can stay at the Sand Oaks high school. Schools were closed on the count of a civil war and what not so it's much safer there. Also because it's the only location which has the least radiation alterations according to Paige and James' research so the explosion won't occur there. I think it will be a few yards away. According to the plan we have to trigger all of Dukilian's exit point weapons, survive them and then we can go on South using underground tunnels until we reach the southern wall. Are we clear?"
Everyone nodded.
"Okay we need to decide when we'll leave," Conner pointed out.
"I think I need to cross reference the explosion site here for a while first so maybe in a few days we can decide," James said.
"Yeah. Okay. Does anyone else have something they want to know or clarity?" Conner asked.
"I want to know the house sites you chose how certain are we that explosions won't occur near their vicinity?" Alexis asked.
"We considered sites near previous explosion making the assumption that another explosion won't occur there but it doesn't give the guarantee that nothing bad will happen there. It's just taking a risk," Conner answered as he looked at the strawberry blonde haired girl.
"Okay."
"Good. Now I'm going to tell you the dangers we are probably going to encounter. The first two are quite obvious. We're going to meet people who are going to try to kill us. This may even include people we thought we knew, people we thought were good people and people we thought cared about us. We're going to have to survive demolitions all over the city. The last one is the wildcard, the most unpredictable, Dukilian's contingency plans for the other escape routes. That one I can't even comprehend. We have to be really careful and prepared for anything. The only problem is we don't have any special kind of armour. "
"Wait," Lisa smiled." I took a course in school that teaches how to make temporary force fields using a phone." Her face then frowned." The force fields last for less than an hour."
"It's okay," Paige said." It's good. We use them to protect us from the escape routes traps since we can't predict them. The other dangers we know them so we face them head on."
"How about gunshots?" Alexis asked.
"Hmmm," Paige started to think.
"I think I have an idea for that," Blake said." Our phones were made of an alloy that's impenetrable to most weapons. I don't know if it's possible to channel that property to our advantage," he raked his dark hair back.
"Blake you're a genius. I can generate other temporal force fields not the real ones like the ones for the escape routes but ones that are like shields. The shield won't be able to cover our backs so we'll need to cover each other," James said.
"How long will it take you to do that?" Conner asked.
"A couple of hours. Lisa can show me how to generate the other force fields. We can make an application that you'll just have to press to make it faster and easier to access the shield and force field."
"Okay. Would you like to do it now?" Conner asked." Or you can do it tomorrow and will call it a day?"
"Can you?" James turned to the curly girl. She nodded. He turned to Conner." We can."
Lisa and James went to work. Blake and Alexis sat down and talked. Paige noticed Lexi smile when she was talking to Blake. She was happy because Blake always made her stay calm. Besides the fact that Lexi was now empowered she still needed Blake to keep her calm just like she needed Conner to keep her far from the edge. After a while Lisa and James were finished. Lisa, Alexis and Blake fell asleep. James, Conner and Paige watched the screen but Paige's eyes were so heavy that she fell asleep. She felt a blanket on her. She didn't even fight herself to stay awake because she was too tired.
