HARLEY & IVY

47: Not Right

Hey everyone! I'm happy you all enjoyed last chapter. I did struggle for a bit, trying to make it as good as possible.

So the storyline with Harley's mum continues. I'm glad it's been received so well by you all. It's always a worry introducing new characters and doing a risky storyline. But so far, everyone seems to have worked which makes me relieved and happy.

It's been a few days since Harley's mum turned up unexpectedly. Since they talked, things had been going rather well. Harley was getting on with her mum and it made Ivy happy that Harley was happy. However, there was one thing. Harley and Ivy didn't sleep in the same bed. Harley's mum didn't know about their relationship and Harley didn't want her knowing straight away. So Ivy agreed for them to sleep separate. Harley slept in the spare room with her mum. At first Ivy didn't mind but that changed. She felt very lonely in the huge bed. Ivy was so use to having Harley sleeping with her that now it felt weird. Empty in fact.

Ivy yawned as she walked to the bathroom. "Morning baby" Ivy said softly as she entered the bathroom. Harley was humming as she brushed her hair. "Morning red" Harley replied happily. Ivy took the brush with a smile and took over. "I've missed doing this" Ivy told Harley. "Me too, among other things" Harley smirked. Ivy smiled at the comment. "Where's your mum?" Ivy asked. "Making breakfast" Harley answered. Ivy nodded before thinking about something else. "So uhm... I know you wanted to leave it a bit before we told her but when are we going to tell her about us?" Ivy wondered. "Uhm... Well I dunno red" Harley replied. Ivy finished combing Harley's hair and made her face her. "Remember baby, I'm here for you. You don't need to do it on your own. We'll do it together" Ivy told her. Harley smiled and nodded. Ivy smiled and kissed Harley on the lips.

"Thanks for breakfast Sharon, it was lovely" Ivy smiled. "It's okay, I'm glad you liked it" Sharon replied. After having breakfast, Ivy went to work in her greenhouse. Harley decided she would show her mum her paintings. They sat down together in the living room. "Wow, these are amazing darling" Sharon stated as she looked at the one in her hand carefully. "I mainly paint portraits of my friends and people I know" Harley told her. "They are really good. My baby girl is so talented" Sharon smiled, looking at Harley before looking through a few more paintings. "I notice you've painted quite a few of Pamela" Sharon pointed out.

Harley paused, thinking of what to say. "Yeah uhm... Well she's my closest and bestest friend. We've known each other for quite a few years... Red's uhm... Helped me through a lot" Harley replied nervously. "Yeah, she told me you've been through a lot. She really is a great friend. I could tell that you two were close" Sharon said. "I'm glad you've got a great friend like her" Sharon added with a smile. Harley smiled back at her mum.

Ivy entered the living room. "Hey" Ivy smiled as she entered. "Hi baybee!" Harley called happily before covering her mouth quickly. Ivy was frozen as well. Sharon was confused. "Uhm-I-uh-mean-I" Harley stuttered. Ivy sighed and walked over to Harley. "Shall we tell her?" Ivy asked softly, kneeling down in front of Harley. She nodded nervously. "Take your time" Ivy reassured. Harley nodded and looked at her mum. "Mum... I uhm... I got something to tell you... Uhm. You see, I've had problems with relationships in the past... But uhm, I uh discovered something about myself and someone... I realized that I loved that person. A lot" Harley began, her heart racing a thousand miles an hour. "You see... I uhm, this is hard for me to say because I'm scared of what you might think of me but I'm... I'm in love with red... Me and red are together" Harley added, looking at Ivy then back at her mum.

There was a pause before Sharon smiled and pulled Harley into a hug. Harley was taken aback at first but then hugged her mum back. "There's no need to be scared darling. I don't care who you love. All that matters is your happiness. You've told me Pamela has looked after you, and is your closest friend. You also told me how much she makes you happy. Thing is, you didn't need to tell me. I could see she makes you happy and that's all I want for you. To be happy" Sharon told Harley when she pulled away from the hug. She looked at Ivy and smiled. "Thank you so much for looking after my daughter. Being there when she needed you and loving her" Sharon smiled. Ivy smiled in response. "It's okay. I love her so much, Harley means so much to me. I'll always be here for her" Ivy told Sharon. They all smiled and hugged each other.

Later that day, the three sat down at the table and ate dinner together. After coming out to her mother, Harley felt a lot much better. She no longer was scared. Harley was happy. As they ate, the three talked and laughed. Ivy had to admit, it was nice having Harley's mum around. "You cook a lovely meal Pamela" Sharon remarked. "Thank you, I'm actually teaching Harley to cook at the moment" Ivy replied. "Oh really?" Sharon said. "Yeah, but I'm no good" Harley stated. "No, but you are getting better baby" Ivy smiled.

"I'm telling you darling, you've got a keeper there. A great cook, extremely caring and loves you to pieces. You've found the love of your life" Sharon told Harley, giving her a wink. Harley laughed and Ivy blushed slightly at the comment. "So Sharon, out of curiosity but how did you find out where we live? It's not exactly easy to find and it isn't a very well known place in Gotham" Ivy asked, taking a sip of her drink. "Well, I just asked around and someone told me" Sharon replied. Ivy's face twisted into confusion slightly. "Who told you?" Ivy asked. Sharon shrugged. "Just someone in the mall" Sharon answered. Ivy was confused. Sharon's answers was a little odd. Ivy suspiciously watched Sharon take a bite of her dinner as she took a sip of her drink...

My advice to you who are afraid to come out and are reading this, is don't rush it. Take your time. Make sure you are ready. It's okay to be scared and really nervous. It took me a little while to find out the name of Harley's mum. I managed to find it though so if you thought I made it up, I didn't. I just searched for it online : )
