CHAPTER ONE

TODAY WAS IMPORTANT; Breana considered this day as her new beginning. After everything, she—they went through last spring, she knew that this is what they needed, a new beginning. It might be hard, of course, it is always hard to start over but she will get through it, she always does.

It was the first day of school again, she was finally stepping into that school as a Junior and she was excited—okay, maybe she's not, but she can pretend that she is. It might have been months since the incident, but she will never forget what had happened, although it was the main reason why she completely changed, why she finally gained her confidence all of a sudden.

All deep thoughts aside, Breana shook her head and took a deep breath as she finished getting ready for her first day. It was now time for another school year, she just hope that this will be a better one, the last year did not go as smoothly as she was expecting—as you all expected, yes, teenage drama.

Breana stepped out of their house, bidding her father and siblings a short goodbye, her brother was already yelling at her for leaving so early, although the bell is actually going to ring in a few more minutes. Her brother, Brendon, was older than her for almost two years, he is going nineteen this year as Breana is just turned seventeen a month ago.

Breana was the middle child and the only girl, Brendon being the eldest and Ben being the youngest at the age of fourteen. Their mother died when she gave birth to Ben, Breana being young at the time, she didn't understand what happened to her mother and was mad at the youngest sibling for taking her mother away from her, but now that their older, she loved Ben more than her life itself.

Snapping out of her thoughts, Breana hopped in her car, leaving Brendon as she drove herself to school. Brendon has a car, but he always liked it better when Breana drive him to school instead because he is very lazy, she doesn't drive him home though since he always have to stay after school for football practice that happens every day, so he walks home or him and his teammates go to the Mystic Grill to hang out and let loose after their practice.

As for Ben, well he rides with whoever he can, it's usually with her because she really was the one who drives them to school, but sometimes when she finishes earlier than her two brothers, she leaves them, so Brendon has to drive them two to school, instead.

As Breana drive herself to school, something hit her windshield, making her stomp her feet on the breaks and the car jerked forward when it stopped abruptly. Breana let out a shaky breathe and looked out of the window, looking for the odd bird that hit her windshield, it was a crow, no doubt, she saw the color and how it looked, she has seen that crow since last spring... since the incident.

She frowned in worry and looked around, just in case someone saw her abrupt stop and no one seemed to notice it because there was barely a car around and the people walking around were minding their own businesses. Breana let out another breath to calm herself and when she finally did, she started the car again and continued to drive her way to school.

Breana didn't really live that far from school and Mystic Falls is a small town, so everything is practically close by, luckily, she wasn't late. She parked the car at her usual parking lot and jumped out of her car, slinging her bag on her shoulder as she made her way in the school. She texted Bonnie, asking if they have already arrived and Bonnie replied that they did and that she was at her locker with Elena.

Breana bit her lip at the mention of the other brunette as she walked down the hallway and she spotted Bonnie's dark hair, she was standing by her locker, going through her stuff. Breana smiled and approached her two friends.
