CHAPTER NINETEEN

DAMON BOARDED UP the window that the tomb vampires broke through last night as Stefan, Breana and Elena watched him.

"I say we go to Pearl's, bust down the door, and annihilate the idiot that attacked us last night." Damon said in annoyance.

"Yeah, and then what? We turn to the rest of that house of vampires and say, oops, sorry?" Stefan retorted.

Breana shook her head in disbelief, "I can't believe you made a deal with her."

"It was more like a helpful exchange of information. And it's not like I had a choice. She's...scary." Damon said, making a face at the thought of Pearl, "Besides, she's gonna help me get Katherine back."

Breana rolled her eyes, pursing her lips, "Of course she is."

"Damon gets what he wants, as usual." Elena butted in bitterly, crossing her arms across her chest, "No matter who he hurts in the process."

Damon turned to Elena and gave her an annoyed glance, "Why are you even here, unnecessary impostor?" He muttered, "And how long are you going to blame me for turning your birth mother into a vampire?"

"I'm here because I want to be." Elena answered, "I'm not blaming you, Damon. I've accepted the fact that you're a self-serving psychopath with no redeeming qualities." She snapped.

Breana sighed, nudging Stefan to stop their bickering, "This isn't very productive." Stefan said, cutting them off, much to Breana's relief, "We're gonna figure out a way to deal with Pearl and the vampires. Yeah?" He said, "Hmm."

Damon left the room and Elena let out an aggravated sigh, turning to the pair, "I'm sorry. He just makes me so cranky." She muttered.

Breana gave her a smile, putting a hand on her arm in comfort, "I know." She chuckled, "He makes everybody cranky."

Elena nodded her head in agreement, "Well, I'm going home." She said, "I need to check on Jeremy. I feel like he's hiding something." She sighed, grabbing her bag.

"Okay. Don't worry about Jer, I'll ask him about it." Breana reassured her and Elena threw her a grateful smile before leaving the Salvatore boarding house. Breana turned to Stefan with an expectant look, "So, what are we going to do?"

"Damon and I are gonna handle everything, I promise." Stefan said, putting his arm around her shoulder causing her to smile at him.

"Well, what about me?" Breana asked, "I can't just sit here and do nothing." She said, her smile turning down into a frown.

"That's exactly what you're gonna do, because that's what's going to keep you safe." Stefan told her sternly.

Breana continued to frown at him in protest, "Which means nothing if you're not safe, too."

"What do you mean? I have Damon, the self-serving psychopath on my side." Stefan teased, remembering Elena's insult towards Damon earlier.

Breana laughed, shaking her head before looking at him seriously, "Well, that's comforting."

Breana went home later on and decided to wash the dishes that her brothers and father left on the dishwasher. Someone came in her house, interrupting her cleaning. She let out a sigh and wiped her hands on her pants as she turned around and walked towards the living room.

She froze mid-step when she saw Damon standing in the middle of her living room with an annoyed expression on his face, "You're ignoring me."

"Huh?" Breana muttered with a confused expression and Damon held up his phone, shaking it lightly causing Breana to take her phone out from her pocket. She turned it on and saw six missed calls from him, "Oh, sorry. My phone was turned off." She muttered.
