CHAPTER TWO
AT THE SALVATORE boarding house, Stefan was changing his shirt when Zach walked in his room, holding a newspaper up, for the vampire to see, "You promised." Zach said.
Stefan looked up at Zach and frowned, grabbing the newspaper and reading the headlines, "This was an animal attack."
Zach shook his head at him, not believing Stefan, "Don't give me that. I know the game." He said, "You tear them up enough, they always suspect an animal attack. You said you had it under control."
"And I do." Stefan said calmly, still frowning at his nephew.
"Please, Uncle Stefan." Zach sighed, shaking his head, "Mystic Falls is a different place now. It's been quiet for years, but there are people who still remember. And you being here, it's just going to stir things up."
"It's not my intention." Stefan said genuinely, shaking his head.
"Then what is? Why did you come back? After all this time, why now?" Zach asked, his voice rising.
Stefan sighed, "I don't have to explain myself."
Zach looked at his uncle and took the newspaper from him, "I know that you can't change what you are, but you don't belong here anymore."
"Where do I belong?"
"I can't tell you what to do. But coming back here was a mistake." Zach answered huskily, walking off.
Stefan watched as Zach walk away from him and went to his cabinet, he opened it and pulled out a journal, he opened the journal and grabbed a picture that was tucked in it. Stefan gazed at the picture with what looks to be a really old picture of Elena, the writing under the picture says: Katherine 1864.

"The Battle of Willow Creek took place right at the end of the war in our very own Mystic Falls. How many casualties resulted in this battle?" Tanner asked, his eyes setting on the Bonnie, who was writing something on her notebook, "Ms. Bennett?" He called, walking around his table as he continued to look at Bonnie with an expectant look.
Bonnie snapped her head up to Tanner and gave him an innocent look, "Um... a lot? I'm not sure, like a whole lot." She said, pursing her lips.
"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Ms. Bennett." Tanner said and Bonnie frowned, looking down at her notebook again, "Mr. Donovan." Tanner called, looking at Matt this time, "Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your embedded jock stereotype?" He asked sarcastically.
"It's okay, Mr. Tanner. I'm cool with it." Matt smiled, playing along, also smoothly not answering the question. The comment caused the class to chuckle as Tanner sighed.
Breana was silent, daydreaming as she was starting to forget the whole class while she was staring outside of the window, watching Tyler and his teammates practice football.
"Breana?" Tanner said, making the younger brunette look at him in surprise, "Surely you can enlighten us about one of the town's most significantly historical events?"
Breana flushed and shook her head lightly, "I'm sorry, I—I don't know." She muttered.
"I was willing to be lenient last year for obvious reasons, Breana." Tanner said, shaking his head, "But the personal excuses ended with summer beak." He scolded, glaring at her, Breana tensed up and glanced at Elena, who frowned sadly at Tanner's back, and he was a huge jerk, alright.
