CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

BREANA SAT WITH her dad and Brendon as she asked Caleb what he knew about her biological father. He may have told her that he didn't know anything about the man, but she was still hoping that he would know something.

"Dad, are you sure you know nothing about this man?" Breana asked, "I know his name." She said, "Would that help?"

Caleb sat back and raised an eyebrow at her, "How do you even know his name?"

Breana pursed her lips, looking at Brendon. She told Brendon everything, how Damon was the one that revealed this to her and that he knew her father, she's hoping that Brendon would help her make an excuse about this.

"Actually, it was my friend's father." Brendon butted in, "My friend's father was an acquaintance to Breana's."

Breana shot him a grateful look as Caleb sighed, "Okay, what's his name?"

"Jacob Mancuso." Breana answered immediately.

Caleb rubbed his temples and tried to think if he knew a Jacob Mancuso, "I don't think that name is familiar to me, Breana." He said, "Look, I understand why you want to find him, but I'm your father, aren't I?" He said, looking at Breana, a little bit upset.

"Dad." Breana said, sighing as she frowned at him, standing up from her seat and she took a seat next to Caleb, "What are you talking about? Of course, you're my father." She said, wrapping an arm around his shoulder, "I'm just curious about this Jacob. I want to meet my biological father, but that doesn't mean I'm going to leave you for him."

Caleb smiled at Breana, hugging her, "You are my daughter, Bree." He said, "Don't forget that." He whispered, kissing her forehead before they pulled away.

"Nope, not jealous." Brendon piped in, his arms crossed as he looked at the two having their sweet moment.

Caleb stood up, "I promise to try to find something about him, alright?" He said, "But for now, I need to get to work." He said, giving her another peck on the forehead and ruffling Brendon's hair before walking out.

Breana threw her head back, closing her eyes, "God, I'm never gonna find Jacob, am I?"

"You don't need him, anyway." Brendon muttered.

"So, nothing?" Stefan asked, sitting at the end of Breana's bed as he watched her fold her clothes.

"Nada." Breana muttered, shaking her head, "I think I'm losing hope. I don't think I will find him anytime soon." She said, her shoulders sagging as she walked over her dresser.

"No, no, you shouldn't lose hope." Stefan said, shaking his head, "I'll help you find him, alright?" He said, "We will find him."

"I don't even know what I'm going to do if I do meet him." Breana said, exhaling loudly as she opened a drawer and set her clothes in it, "I also don't know how to start finding him because all I have of him is this necklace and his name."

Stefan stood up from the bed and walked towards her, "Be patient." He said soothingly as he put a hand on the small of her back, "I'm here, I'll help you."

Breana let out a small smile, closing the drawer as she turned around to face him, "I know. That's why I'm so grateful for you." She said, "Thank you." She said as she continued smiling at him, they stared at each other's eyes for a moment before Stefan spoke again.

"You're welcome then." Stefan smiled, "I should get going." He mumbled, "I gotta go deal with Damon."

"How's he doing?" Breana asked, not breaking eye contact with him.
