CHAPTER SIX

THE SUN WAS shining brightly through the window, waking up Breana as it hit her face. She moaned in protest, wanting to continue her peaceful slumber, she tried to sleep again but her ears were too aware of the surroundings as she was being bothered by the voices of her dad, Caleb, and probably the doctor.

Breana opened her eyes, trying to adjust from the bright light in the room, she glared at the window in annoyance, "Will someone please close the curtains?" She grumbled.

"I'll do it." She looked at the voice and saw it was Brendon, he walked towards the window and closed the curtain, making Breana feel relieved from the bright sun.

"Hey." Caleb greeted as the doctor gave her a smile and walked out of the room, "The doctor said you're doing great and that you can go home today." He informed her, "But you have to be careful because your wound is still fresh and the stitches might open."

Breana sat up carefully and nodded her head in understanding, "I will."

"I'm gonna head out now," Brendon said, "Ben and I need to get to school or we'll be late." He said, walking over to Ben.

Ben kissed his sister's cheek and smiled at her, "Get better, Bree."

Breana smiled back at him, "I will." She said, "You guys go, don't want you to be late for class." She said and watched as her two brothers walked out of her hospital room in a hurry.

Caleb crossed his arms, looking down at Breana, "Brendon told me what happened. God, you are so stubborn, Bree." He sighed, shaking his head but a fond smile on his face, "Just like your mom." He said lowly, patting her head, making her glare at him, "Will you promise me not to get yourself in trouble anymore?"

"No promises." Breana said, scrunching her nose.

Caleb rolled his eyes, "We'll continue this talk at home later." He said, "But, I need to get to work, you get ready and Caroline said she wanted to pick you up because she wasn't able to visit you last night." He said, making Breana remember Jeremy telling her last night that Elena should be visiting her today.

Breana nodded her head, "Okay." Caleb smiled at her and kissed her forehead as he grabbed his coat from the chair beside her and a bag and walked out of the room. The bag made Breana guess that her father probably went there late at night and slept on the chair, causing her to shake her head in disapproval. The chair didn't look comfortable to sleep in.

Breana laid back down for a second before letting out an annoyed sigh and sat up, swinging her legs on the side of the bed, letting herself sit on the bed. She grabbed her phone from her purse and dialed Caroline's number.

After one ring, Caroline answered, "Hey, I'm on my way." She said.

Breana smiled at Caroline's immediate answer, "Alright, I'm about to get ready because I'm still wearing a hospital gown." She said, scrunching her nose as she looked down at the gown she was wearing.

Caroline laughed, "Okay, be there in fifteen tops."

"Drive safe," Breana bid, "Love you."

"Love you too." Caroline said as they both hung up.

Breana grabbed a bag she saw Brendon leave by the bed; she stood carefully and winced at the slight pain on her side. She bent down and grabbed the bag, placing it on the bed, her back facing the door as she rummaged through the bag, taking out her pants and shirt along with her underwear. She raised an eyebrow, not even wanting to know who packed her clothes.

She put her clothes on the bed and went back on her phone, texting Elena and Bonnie if they even planned on visiting her. They weren't replying, so Breana frowned and left it alone, putting her phone down on the bed.
