Harry has very recently woken. As he came to he was reaching above him, almost knocking Dumbledore's glasses off his nose. As soon as Dumbledore had greets him, Harry bgeins to yell. He yells about Quirrell, saying he has the stone.
'Harry, Quirrell doesn't not have the stone. Calm yourself, dear boy,' Dumbledore replies softly.
'Then who does?' Harry says, much too loudly.
'Madame Pomfrey will kick us out if you don't lower your voice, Harry,' I warn.
'Lydia! You're here - where's Ron and Hermione?'
'Coming soon, don't worry,' I assure him.
While we wait for our two friends, Harry surveys the room. By now he's worked out where he is. It must be a little overwhelming, waking up in room you don't expect to be in. Not to mention there's a table next to me, piled high with sweets and cards.
Just as Dumbledore begins to make a comment, Hermione bursts through the door, followed by a head covered in red hair. The Headmaster smiles kindly to the new arrivals, before speaking, 'Tokens from your friends and admirers.' He gestures to the table. 'What happened between you and Quirrell is a complete secret . . . so naturally the whole school knows. I believe your friends Misters Fred and George Weasley were responsible for trying to send you a toilet seat. Is that correct, Ms Potter?'
'It is,' I say, stifle a laugh. 'I helped. Unfortunately, Madame Pomfrey did not find it as funny, and instead saw it as a health and safety issue. It was confiscated.'
Harry smiles feebly at me asking, 'how long have I been in here?'
'Three days,' Ron says, speaking for the first time since entering.
Hermione speaks next, informing Harry, 'We've been so worried. I'm so glad you're awake now!'
Harry doesn't focus on his friends for long, instead choosing to speak to Dumbledore about the stone.
'I see you are not to be distracted. Very well,' Dumbledore pauses, before telling Harry the events that went on underground after Harry had evidently passed out. 'Quirrell did not get the stone from you. I arrived just in time to prevent that from happening. Although, as I have told your sister, you were doing very well by yourself.'
'You were there?' Harry exclaims. 'So, you got Hermione's owl?'
'It seems that we must've crossed in midair. Once I had reached London it became quite clear to me that the place I should be in was the one I'd just left.' Dumbledore and Harry continue the exchange, only rehashing information I already know.
I look at my brother and notice how tired he still looks. Even after sleeping for three days, he wears a drained look. I can't say I'm surprised considering what he's been through this year. The stone, Hagrid's dragon, managing an escape from our Aunt and Uncle. And, I guess, fighting to keep me away from Draco. Draco! I haven't even spoken to him the past couple of days - as soon as I'm finished speaking to Harry I have to find him!
Bringing my attention back to the conversation, Dumbledore says, 'The stone, it has been destroyed.'
'Destroyed?' Harry and I ask at the same time. This is new to me - I had no idea what happened to the thing. 'But Nicolas Flamel -' Harry speaks again.
'Ah, I see you did your research,' Dumbledore says, sounding delighted. 'Him and I had a bit of chat and decided it was for the best.'
'He and his wife will die, won't they?' Hermione asks sadly, leaning on the end of Harry's bed.
'Yes,' the Headmaster sighs deeply. 'They have enough Elixir to get their affairs in order. Then, I'm afraid, they will die.'
'To one as young as you all, it seems incredible,' Dumbledore continues after seeing our reactions. 'But to them, it's just like going to bed after a very, very long day. After all, to the well organised mind, death is but the next great adventure.' He pauses again. 'The stone may not have been for good, after all. All the money and life a person could want? The two things humans would choose above all. But in the end, trouble is you'll find that people have a knack for choosing things that are the worst for them.'
