Chapter Three
Penny's POV:
After taking the dinner out of the oven, Aunt Claire and I heard a big crash. We looked at each other and dashed into the living room. Aunt Claire entered first and I was hot on her heels.
"How many times do I have to tell you boys? No wrestling in the house!" Aunt Claire shrieked at the tangled mess. Throwing my hands in the pile blindly, I felt something round and hard, must be Trevors arm. I grabbed it with both hands and pulled with all of my might.
He partly picked himself up while I drug him out of the pile of limbs. He set himself down once I got him far enough away from the other two and I fell back on my butt. Blowing the hair dangling in my face, I looked up and saw it wasn't Trevor, it was Colton! He looked up and smiled at me which I could feel my face get bright red.
"I'm sorry I thought you were Trevor," I stumbled and looked away. He laughed at my reaction.
"Don't be sorry, you saved my ass from those idiots," He chuckled. God, why does he have to be so hot? I started laughing along with him, his laugh was adorable. He stopped laughing and was now looking at me deep in thought. What could he be thinking?
"What?" I asked looking away. Why does he have to stare at me?
"Hmmm?" He said breaking out of whatever trance he was in.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked, looking in those gorgeously blue eyes.
"I don't know what your talking about," He said, which I couldn't tell if he was joking or being serious. I didn't notice he stood up until he scooped me up and placed me on my feet. I looked at him wide-eyed. He leaned in a little but then swiftly turned on his heels and looked at Trevor and Gavin, chuckling as Aunt Claire pried them apart. Sitting back, her face red and out of breath.
"Come on boys, dinner's ready," She said breathlessly. Colton bent down and helped her stand up, which then she led the rest of us into the kitchen. Noticing nobody had utensils or napkins, I walked into the kitchen. Taking two handfuls of forks and knives, I turned around and jumped.
How long had Colton been standing there? He came up so quietly behind me! "Here, let me help," He said taking my two handfuls all in one huge hand.
"Thanks," I squeaked turning to grab a few napkins. Realizing he was waiting for me to go, I squeezed by him, leading the way to the kitchen, feeling his eyes on me the entire time.
When we walked in, Trevor cleared his throat and set his drink down. He must have breathed in water. I hate when that happens.
As Colton gave out the forks and knives, I placed the napkins in the center of the table and went to take my seat. Realizing Colton was suppose to sit next to me, I grew more and more anxious and self conscious.
"Thank you dear, for getting the utensils," Aunt Claire said to Colton who sat down and looked at her.
"Oh, I wasn't the one who noticed we didn't have any. Penny did and I went in to help her," He said looking at me.
"Well thank you both," She said digging into the creamy chicken dish, I helped to prepare.
"So, Penny, I didn't get to talk to you today," Uncle Ben said taking a bite of his chicken. "How was the flight?" He asked looking at me.
"It was alright," I said shrugging, "I slept most of the time, but there was thing really big guy next to me,"
"Well, it's good you got to sleep," He took another bite of chicken.
"How do you like it here so far?" It was Colton talking now.
"I don't know yet, I haven't been anywhere but the airport and here," I said laughing.
"Well that means you need to go out and see the city!" He exclaimed looking excited, "I can take you out tonight!" His face brightened.
"That would be an awesome idea!" Aunt Claire said laughing, "You, Trevor and Gavin should all take out Penny tonight!"
"Alright I would love to see the city," I said getting giddy. I saw Coltons face fall a little when she added Trevor and Gavin which only made my heart races even more. Maybe he doesn't have a girlfriend after all.
"It's final then, after dinner, I'll walk home and get changed and pick all of you up around 7," Colton said smiling.
"Woah woah woah," Gavin said putting his hands out in front of him, "Mom, you said I could go out with Jack and Ryan!" Gavin whined. He can act like a four year old sometimes!
"Oh I did, didn't I?" Aunt Claire said frowning.
"And mom and you said that I could go out with John and Troy," Trevor added in.
"Alright, that leaves me and you," Colton said smiling at me, "What do ya say?" He said looking at me.
Looking down at my hands slightly, I said, "Sure why not," shrugging taking another bite of chicken.
"Awesome, wear something nice," He smiled.
"Alright where are you taking me?" I asked genuinely curious.
"You'll see," He said mysteriously looking up through his eyelashes.
Once everyone was done with the chicken, I went to help clear the table with Aunt Claire. Balancing everyones plates, I walked into the kitchen and gently placed them in the sink.
"Oh, don't worry about it sweetie. You go up and get dressed for your date tonight, I got the dishes," She said using her hip to bump me aside. When I just looked at her, she shooed me upstairs to my room. I found out Colton and Trevor left for his house, which apparently Uncle Ben said is five doors down.
Walking up the stairs, I wondered what I should wear. Stepping into my room smiling, I walked straight to the closet and picked out a form-fitting black dress and cute heels to match. I jumped in the shower and shaved. Blow drying my hair and curling it to the best of my ability. After getting dressed I put on a small amount of natural looking makeup. Slipping my heels on I looked at the time. Five past seven. Not that bad, I thought to myself.
I made my way down the stairs and found the family in the living room talking happily. When my eyes settled on Colton, my heart skipped a beat. He looked amazing. He was wearing black pants with light blue button up shirt rolled at the sleeves. His shirt made his eyes look that much more beautiful.
"Ready to go?" Colton asked after a few seconds of staring at me. I nodded and told Aunt Claire and Uncle Ben not to stay up, not knowing when I would get home. He held out his arm for me to take and he walked me to the door. Tonight was going to be fun.
