Chapter Eight

Colton’s POV:

Holding Penny’s hand, I led her to my Audi. I opened the door for her and watch her get in. I’m really excited I get to take her to the fair. It’s going to be so much fun. She looked amazing. She had makeup on, but not too much.

I didn’t to hang around with the guys. I’m glad she got to meet them though. Hopefully she thinks Lydia and Alison are nice.

“Will you tell me where you’re taking me now?” She asked me looking over at me with those puppy dog eyes.

Looking away from them I said, “Nope, you’ll find out soon enough,” I smirked, knowing her puppy dog eyes don’t have too much of an effect on me.

“Fine,” She huffed looking out the window.

“Tell me what you’re thinking,” I said glancing over to her.

“Well, I’m trying to think of where you’re taking me, but I’ve got nothin,” She said looking over at me smiling.

“Look out your window,” I said smiling. I could see the ferris wheel and all of the different tents. She glanced out curious. She gasped and looked over smiling at me.

“I’ve never been to a fair!” She said, her eyes sparkled with excitement. I reached over and took her hand.

“You’ll love it,” I said as I pulled up to pay for parking. We got out and went over to the ticket booth hand in hand.

“How many?” A older woman said from behind the glass. She had a raspy voice, definitely a smoker.

“Two wrist bands,” I said handing her the money as she slip two green paper wristbands to us. We put them on and headed to the first game. She couldn’t seem to see enough. She watched the little kids running to games and the parents running after them trying to catch up. She watched the roller coasters and the ferris wheel. She watched the bumper cars and bumper boats.

“Come on!” She said almost dragging me to the water shooters. We each took a seat and aimed our guns at the little target in the center of the mouth of the clown. As more people came we started the game. I won, and the bell rang. Because there was more than 5 people I got to choose a big prize. I chose the big light pink teddy bear and gave it to Penny whose eyes brightened. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so beautiful when they’re happy.

“For me?” She said hugging it tightly.

“Of course!” I said laughing. We played a few more games and decided we wanted to go on the roller coaster. We sat front row, the whole time she squeezed my hand and screamed while I laughed.

“Do you want anything to eat?” I asked. The sun was starting to set and all of the lights were starting to come on, “Oh! How about we get some cotton candy!” I suggesting realizing that she’s never been to a fair before. She might not have had cotton candy before either.

“I’ve never had any before. What’s it taste like?” She said almost like she read my mind.

“Do you like sugar?” I asked.

    “Of course,” She responded.

“Do you like really sweet treats?” I asked.

“I live for really sweet treats,” She said.

“Good, then we’ll get cotton candy,” I said simply. We walked hand in hand to the counter and I asked for cotton candy. Handing the stick to Penny she ripped a piece off and examined it.

“It’s not gonna bite you,” I said laughing. Giving me a look, she stuck it in her mouth.

“Oh my god, this is amazing!” She said ripping off another piece and eating it. I laughed. We walked around and played a few games before I suggested we should go on the ferris wheel.

“I don’t know…” Penny said a little uneasy, “I’m afraid of heights,” She admitted and looked up at me.

“That’s okay, I’ll be there with you,” I said pulling her toward the line.

We climbed in the little iron basket. She was holding my hand really tight before moving closer to me. When we started to move she squeaked.

“Shhhh. It’s okay, I’m here, I got you,” I said putting my arms around her and rubbing circles on her arm.

We stopped at the top, but she wasn’t looking out at the amazing view. “Look,” I said pointing out.

She raised her head and looked out. You could see the beach a little further down and the ocean that could go on forever.

“It’s beautiful,” She said, relaxing a little in my arms.

“Not as beautiful as you,” I said looking down at her. She turned her head to look at me. Her eyes were calm and warm. Her lips were pulled up in a small smile. Before I knew what I was doing I leaned down and gently brushed my lips against hers.

“Can I call you my boyfriend now that you kissed me?” She asked. I laughed.

“Of course,” I said pulling her closer to me.
