Chapter Twenty Six
Colton’s POV:
As we walked downstairs I could tell someone was going to ask question’s about Penny. Even though she got herself together you could still tell she was crying almost all night. Her eyes were puffy.
Within the first five minutes of being downstairs Claire asked why she looked like she was crying all night to which Penny replied with our fake story not wanting to aggravate anyone. Penny lied so slyly that if I didn’t know what actually happened I would have believed her. That almost worries me. If she can lie like that, has she lied to me before?
Trevor and Gavin came strolling into the room with only boxers on making Penny and Clover turn around with their eyes wide with shock.
“Boy, I suggest you put some pants on before I throw up,” Clover said and everyone laughed except the idiots who ran up to their rooms their faces bright red. Now why the hell would you come downstairs in boxers when girls lived in your house?
“What is on the agenda today?” Penny asked looking around for any responses, her eyes returning to normal.
“Well, I was thinking we could all start planning for the Fourth of July party,” Claire said turning around with a big plate of pancakes. Penny’s stomach made a loud noise and everyone laughed, “Hungry much?” Claire giggled. I forgot that she hadn’t eaten almost all night, aside from a few snacks.
“Very,” She said taking a pancake and and drowning it in syrup, “So tell me about this party. I didn’t know we were having a Fourth of July party,”
“It’s more of a BBQ but we have tons of friends over and we all just talk and swim and have a lot of fun until we all drive to the beach to watch the fireworks. It’s so much fun,” Trevor said walking back in the room with pants on.
“Glad to see you put some kind of article of clothing on,” Clover said making a face as Trevor stuck his tongue out and laughed.
“Sorry about that,” He said rubbing his neck his face turning a light pink.
“The party sounds like a lot of fun,” Penny said smiling, “I’ve never really seen fireworks,”
“WHAT?” Trevor said astonished as Penny shrugged. This girl hasn’t had a lot to experience as I remember her never trying s’mores or cotton candy.
“My mom and dad never took me out to see them on Fourth of July, they were usually working that night anyway so I just sat home and watched tv or something,” She said shrugging again.
“Well Fourth of July is in just two weeks so I want to be there when you see them,” I stated as I reached out and held her hand.
“Deal,” Pennt said laughing.
“What else haven’t you done?” Gavin said leaning up against the counter.
“Oh lots of things,” Penny said casually. What the actual hell? If her parents were still alive I might have slapped them for not giving Penny as many opportunities as possible.
“Like what?” Gavin asked.
“Ummm I’ve never been on a roller coaster. I’ve never stayed in a hotel. I’ve never been to a school dance. I’ve never been to any kind of sports game other than my sports games. I’ve never been to a movie theater. I’ve never-” Penny said looking up and thinking before I cut her off.
“You’ve never been to a movie theater?” I asked. I could feel my face in a deep frown and my face getting a little red. She shook my head and I said, “That’s it everything you haven’t done we are doing in the next two weeks. I’m making sure you get 18 years of fun that you missed,” I said smiling big. That’s perfect! I’m making sure she has so much fun within the next two weeks she will have to fall in love with me. Not only that but I can prove to her that I don’t have any feelings for Sarah anymore.
“I can’t let you do that! It’d be too expensive and I’ll eventually get to do everything at some point,” Penny said frowning.
“Nope, I’m making it my personal goal to make every single one of those things you just named happen from now until Fourth of July,” I said and she smiled. She has the most beautiful smile in the world.
“Fine,” She said taking another bite of pancake.
“Why don’t we relax for today. The fun will start tomorrow,” I said winking at her and got up to walk over to get a pancake for myself. We can have a movie marathon. Maybe we can invite Ryan over for Clover too.
I got myself two pancakes before sitting down next to Penny. “I think we should have a movie marathon today,” I stated as everyone nodded in agreement.
“What do you have in mind?” She asked looking at me.
“Well what kind of movies do you like?” I asked her and she shrugged.
“I’ve only seen a few movies. I’ve seen almost all of the Disney movies because my parents would never let me rent any movies or would ever get any of the movie channels so I was stuck watching Disney movies for free on the Disney Channel,” She said thinking. That made me so mad. Her parents sounded like they barely cared about her.
“We are watching as many movies as the day will allow,” I said and looked around, “We should all watch our favorite movies,” I said and everyone agreed.
“Mine is Transformers,” Gavin said smiling.
“Step Brothers,” Trevor said taking a seat across from me.
“The Blind Side,” Ben said smiling. He would pick a deep movie.
“Bridesmaids,” Claire said walking over and holding Ben’s hand.
“Oh! You HAVE to watch Dirty Dancing and Footloose!” Clover said getting excited.
“What’s your favorite movie?” Penny asked looking at me.
“Mine is any of the Fast and Furious movies,” I said smiling at her. Come to think of it, she would love them considering her love for cars.
“Then it’s set, we are starting now and watching as many of those movies as we can today,” Claire said taking all of our plates and bring them to the sink, “Clover, why don’t you call Ryan over?”
I saw her start to worry. That’s right Ryan hadn’t gotten back to her yet, “I’ll try calling him,” She said walking out of the room as she dialed his number on the phone. Everyone got up and walked into the living room and took our spots on the couch.
Penny curled up into my side and rested her head on my shoulder as I put my arm around her. Trevor went over to their wall of movies and picked out every movie that everyone named. I’m convinced they have every movie known to man of that wall.
He stuck the first movie in and turned the tv on. The first movie he picked was the Blind Side, probably figuring get the most boring one out of the way first so she isn’t tempted to fall asleep later.
Clover walked into the room with a smile on her face that told me Ryan had picked up the phone, “Ryan should be over in 10 minutes,” She said and took an open seat on the couch.
We started the movie and Ryan arrived within the next 15 minutes. Everyone had settled in and we started our day of movies with Penny snuggled into my side.
