Chapter Fourty One
Penny's POV:
I stood there, to say I was shocked was an understatement. There in all of his glory, was Colton with an irresistibly genuine smile plastered on his face. He was standing on the dugout and all cameras were on him.
He pointed at me and Clover and motioned for us to go over to him. My feet were planted in their place until Clover gave me a little push and I started to walk forward. I felt the eyes of the whole stadium on me and when I looked up I saw I was on the jumbo screen.
When I finally made it to the dugout Colton held out his hand for me to take. I looked at it for a second before I took and was pulled onto the dugout with him. In this moment there was no one except me and Colton.
"Penny I have something I've been meaning to ask you," He said wearing a smirk on his face.
"Penny Carter, I have fallen in love with you over the past few months. That love was abruptly stopped and stolen from me when I made a stupid drunk choice and I'm going on a limb here doing this hoping for your forgiveness and your love once again," He then knelt down on one knee and pulled out a small red felt box and opened. Inside the box there was a gorgeous diamond ring resting inside of it. He continued, "I know we haven't known each other for very long but I am positive when I say I love you and I will only love you. I have no eyes for any other girl but you. I want to wake up with you snuggled against me every morning and go to sleep with you every night. I want to make you the happiest girl in the world and have you experience everything you've missed out on in life so far. So with that said, Penny, will you PLEASE marry me?" He said with a small hopeful smile on his face.
I stood there stunned with my hand on my opened mouth. Throughout the whole stadium you could hear a pin drop waiting for my response. I started to slowly shake my head yes and the whole stadium erupted into cheers. The jumbo screen flashed saying "SHE SAID YES".
Colton jumped up pulling me into his arms and spinning me around and around while saying "I love you," over and over again while I laughed. Once he set me down he took the ring gingerly out of it's box and slid it onto my left hand ring finger. It was a perfect fit.
He leaned down and kissed me making the whole stadium erupt into cheers once again. Laughing he helped me down from the dugout and took me in his arms once again.
"Did you have something to do with this?" I asked Clover who was still recording us. She looked up from her phone and smiled hugely.
"Maybe," She laughed.
The game started after another 15 minutes and throughout the whole game my smile never once left my face. I was going to get married to Colton. I was going to be Mrs. Colton Young.
