Chapter Nine
Penny’s POV:
The rest of the night went amazingly. He kissed me! I had a boyfriend again! Every time I’m with Colton, I can feel myself forgetting and getting over Johnny. Now all I need is my best friend Clover, and I would be the happiest girl in the world. Actually come to think of it, she applied to California University.
Looking over at Colton I asked him a very random question, “Do you know if Ryan is single?” I asked looking up at him face.
“What? He’s single, but why do you want to know?” He said frowning.
“He would be perfect for best friend," I said looking up at him.
"Oh okay. Tell me about your best friend. What's her name?" He asked smiling at me relieved.
"Her name is Clover. Well she applied to California University, like me. I don't know if she got accepted for it though. Come to think of it, I haven't heard from her since I've landed," I said frowning.
"Well I can't wait to meet her," he said pulling me closer to him.
We walked to car hand in hand and he opened the door for me. I got in and looked at the time. It was half past nine. We drove home listening to the radio and when we pulled up, Colton opened the door for me.
I walked into the house and heard voices. Everyone must still be here. Walking to the living room, I looked around not seeing any of the people who were over earlier, only one very familiar face. I gasped. She was one head taller than me and her perfectly curly, sandy blonde hair hung at the middle of her back. It couldn't be. I ran over to Clover and hugged her tightly.
“Don’t get all emotional on me now,” Clover laughed hugging me back.
“Why are you here?” I asked finally pulling away from her.
“Gee, it’s good to see you too,” She said sarcastically.
“You know that’s not what I meant,” I said pointing a finger at her.
“Your Aunt invited me to stay with you guys until I move into my dorm at California University!” She squealed jumping up and down with me like we were five year old girls learning they were going to disney world.
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” I said running over to Aunt Claire and giving her a big bear hug.
Everyone laughed as I went back Clover. Colton came over and held my hand as I talked to her. She raised her eyebrow at me.
“Oh! Clover this is Colton, my boyfriend,” I said introducing her.
Clover looked Colton up and down, who was now standing there looking very uncomfortable, “Let me make one thing very clear,” She said glaring at him. I just laughed, knowing exactly where this was going, “If you mistouch her, if you break her heart, if you treat her badly, if you do anything I feel will hurt her in any way, I will nail your balls to a board, hang you up upside down in the front lawn, and use you as a lawn ornament,” She said stepping a little closer to him as her voice get deeper.
The whole room erupted in laughter at her threat and Colton’s face, which was now very pale. Giving him a sweet smile she looped her arm in mine and said, “Excuse us for just one minute,” She dragged me to the kitchen.
“Tell me everything!” She said looking excitedly at me.
“Are you sleeping in my room?” I asked looking at her, giving her a look of I need to tell you something.
“I think so,” She said urging me to continue.
“Good, I’ve got things to tell you but not now,” I said looking at her disappointed face and walked back to the living room where we left Aunt Claire, Colton, Uncle Ben, Trevor and Gavin.
“Thank you guys so much for letting her stay her,” I said hugging her tightly again. She was the only connection I had to home.
“It’s no problem. I’m glad she could come,” Aunt Claire said as Uncle Ben wrapped his arm around her waist.
Colton came over to me and did the same looking down at me smiling. Everyone sat down on the couches and talked for a while until Coton said he better get home. Trevor left with him and everyone said their goodnights and walked to their room.
“Okay spill,” Clover said to me as I shut my door.
I told her everything that happened from the moment I got here, leaving out Ryan and my plan for her.
“And I think I found the perfect guy for you,” I said after we stared at the ceiling for a few minutes.
“Who? What’s his name? What does he look like?” She questioned excitedly.
“His name is Ryan. He looks a lot like Colton, same height, looks muscular, except his hair is a little longer than Colton’s,” I said describing him.
“He sounds hot,” She said while I laughed.
“Well, if he comes over tomorrow, I’ll try to get you guys together,” I said as I rolled over to my side, "And to top it all off, he doesn't have a girlfriend,"
“Sounds like a plan,” Clover said yawning. Everything was silent after that and we both fell asleep thinking of what tomorrow would bring.
