Chapter Twenty Seven
Clover’s POV:
We waited until Ryan showed up to watch the movie. I was so relieved when he finally answered my call. I walked out of the room as I dialed his phone number.
It rung three times before I heard his deep, sleep filled voice on the other side, “Hello?” He said.
“Ryan?” I asked holding my chest feeling so relieved. I might not have known him that long, but I can’t say I wasn’t worried about him. I may not be in love yet, but I still care enough to want to know that he’s alright.
“Clover?” He said clearing his throat. I shook my head and then realized he couldn’t see me.
“Yeah, it’s me,” I said smiling big.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t get back until now. Why did you leave so early last night?” He asked. I bit my lip. I didn’t really want to be the one to tell him why.
“Well, we think someone spiked Penny’s drink last night,” I said, I technically not lying him, just not telling him the whole truth.
“That’s horrible! I swear to god whoever did it is gonna get my fist up their ass,” He growled.
“Get in line,” I laughed and he joined me.
“Is she at least feeling better now?” He asked. I smiled, I’m happy he cared about her.
“Yeah, she’s a lot better now. Hey listen the other reason why I called was to see if you wanted to come over and have a movie marathon with us?” I asked, really hoping he would agree. All I want is his arms around me.
“Sure, I’ll be over in 10 minutes,” He said and I smiled big.
“Okay awesome see you then,” I said.
“Okay bye,” He said hanging up.
I walked back into the room with a big smile on my face and told everyone that he would be coming over in around 10 minutes. We all sat around and talked. When Ryan walked into the room I jumped up and hugged him, wrapping my arms around his neck.
He was wearing a light grey loose t shirt that had a faded coors light logo across the front with black sweatpants.
After getting out of my grasp he picked me up bridal style, to which I giggled, and walked me over to an empty place on the couch. He sat down and placed me on his lap. I curled up, resting my head on his chest and sighing.
Nobody looked like they saw any of this. The boys were wrestling again, while both Colton and Penny, and Claire and Ben were looking at each other deeply wrapped up in their own discussions.
“Are we ready to start the movie?” I asked speaking up.
“Yup,” Ben said as he pushed start on the remote and we all settled back.
Around half an hour into the movie we heard a knock at the door. Everyone looked around at each other and frowned. Who could that be?
Gavin got up to get it and soon came back into the room and shrugged when he saw the looks we gave me. He was followed by a pretty brunette.
The girl had darker brown hair with the slightest hints of red highlights, as straight as Penny’s going down to the middle of her back and sidebangs. She had a sharp jaw line and green eyes. There was not the slightest hint of a pimple on her face even though it appeared that she didn’t wear any type of makeup.
“Leila?” Trevor said and immediately stood up. I frowned, I heard that name before, “What are you doing here?”
“I just came to stop by and say hi,” She said smiling. She had perfectly white and straight teeth. She was small, but taller than Penny.
“Would you care to join us for our movie day? We just started on The Blind Side,” Claire said motioning for her to sit.
“Oh no, I couldn’t intrude,” She said shaking her head. Oh! I’ve got it! Leila was the girl that Trevor has a crush on. I looked over at him and almost burst out laughing. His tan was bright red and was looking down at the floor.
“Oh please sit down honey!” Claire said laughing.
“Alright,” Leila said and shyly walked over to Trevor and said something in his ear. His face brightened as he smiled. Looking up he found everyone looking at them. Leila was sitting just like me and Ryan were.
Ryan raised his eyebrow at him but he didn’t see him. Ben cleared his throat and said, “Would you care to introduce us, son?”
“Oh guys this is Leila, my girlfriend,” He said it so fast I almost missed it. I looked over at Penny who was smiling so widely I thought her mouth would be permanently turned in a smile.
“Hi Leila, I’m Penny, Trevors cousin,” She leaned over Colton’s lap and shook her hand. She smiled politely. Everyone went around the room and introduce ourselves to her.
“Alright are we ready to watch the rest of the movie now?” Trevor said relentlessly wanting the attention anywhere other than him and Leila.
“Yup,” Ben said pushing the play button yet again then pausing it for a quick moment, “Gavin, you don’t have any unexpected guests coming do you?” Ben said jokingly and Gavin laughed as he shook his head.
We watched the rest of the movie in peace and then put in another one before we stopped for lunch. The rest of the day we spent watching movie after movie until all of us were exhausted.
It was around 12 at night and Trevor asked if everyone could just sleep over. Leila said she had to go home but everyone could. We all helped set up blankets on the floor and I looked up and smiled at Ryan. I was going to get to sleep in Ryan’s arms tonight.
