Tiny mewls sounded from Pigeon Talon's den. She touched her nose Eagle Speck's ear for a moment then padded up to Fish Scar who was waiting outside the den by Dapple Spots who seemed to be bouncing on his toes in excitement. "Her kits were a success." She purred. He padded in beside her. The tiny bodies do the kist were fascinating. The whole group had come to look. Wolf Fur blinked in wonder. "They look so small.." he mewed. Their fur was dry and fluffy now;one of the toms had a gray coat. The other had a coat just like his brother only with white patches. Their sister was a tortoiseshell like her mother. "Have you named the little things yet?" Misty Tail asked, stretching a paw to gently stroke the gray tom's head.
"Oh no not yet," Eagle's Speck replied. "I want their names to be special. I want to wait a while." She met Pigeon Talon's gaze. Her eyes briefly flashed but no cat noticed, too distracted by the newborn kits.
"Alright you all let her rest." Pigeon Talon meowed calmly and gently nosing a few cats away. Dapple Spots casted a yearning glance at his sister. "Goodbye my kin." He mewed sweetly to the tiny kits. Wolf Fur blinked and remembered he had to ask Pigeon Talon about a cut he had got recently. He padded up but realized that she might nose him away because Eagle's Speck was in there with her kits. He shrugged it off and took a step but he stiffened as he heard Eagle's Speck meow:"How could I be so blind?" He blinked and hid behind a rock to overhear. "It's not your fault Eagle's Speck. You know that for yourself." She mewed.
"Don't speak those words that are obviously not true to my face you fool!" Eagle's Speck voice suddenly became edged with fury and fear. She kept her voice low.
"They are true. It isn't your fault." Pigeon Talon mewed, retaining her calm temperament. Eagle's Speck bowed her head. "Why did the ancestors do this to me? How could I have possibly been pregnant with,"
"Maybe the stars had plans before his time was up. Why do you constantly torment me with this of all things? Didn't you ever consider how I felt on the matter?" The lilac she-cat's amber eyes blazed like the sun. Bright and so fierce instead of calm as they usually were.
"I am raising these kits by myself. Their kin..." The tortoiseshell she-cat didn't finish her sentence.
"I understand your choice. I'll tell Fish Scar to announce their arrival to the group and your decision on their parentage." Pigeon Talon meowed flexing her jaw. Wolf Fur slinked away quickly before Pigeon Talon made her exit. Eagle's Speck sighed and relaxed her body her fur settling the tension slowly draining. "The only thing coming out of telling who their father is will bring one of two cases..." the newly made mother's words came a long way off was Wolf Fur walked further and further away. He longed to hear more, wondering what the two she-cats were talking about.
Do as the stars say Wolf Fur... it's best to leave a situation like this to cats who can handle it It was Rustling Leaves!
She was right. The tom didn't want to seek nosey. Not to mention get in trouble with his mother, father, or even Fish Scar. He would have to do as the stars said just like Rustling Leaves and the other ancestors had told him. Plus, Wolf Fur knew better than to get involved in things that didn't concern him. But he was a helper. He wanted to help anycat. In any way he could no matter the problem. But the young tom knew the ancestors would be angry with him for disobeying them one bit in him not doing what they had said.
