He was initially unperturbed. Eventually, however, his expression had changed from being expressionless to a frown.
He had been in the same wooden shelter as Lea for 3 hours, and during their time inside, Lea had proven she was capable of all sorts of cruel things. The youth could clearly see he should be afraid of his own safety, but in the corner of his mind, he could clearly remember the gentle smile he was shown before he first collapsed in the hands of the girl in front of him.
He simply knew he was useful somehow, and that the girl had taken pity on him maybe because of his eyes or whatever she assumed she knew about him.
"These soldiers have a family of their own, and now they are dead." She said quietly. Eerie silence covered the whole room.
"If essences can destroy and break apart substances, can it be used in reverse?" As she continued to ponder, the crimson eyed youth couldn't help but find the girl in front of him rather creepy.
Lea's curiosity in full display in front of someone for the first time, it was expected the receiving person would feel disturbed. She had found a great secluded place for her experiments with an Assassin as an observer, she couldn't stop her imagination from running rampant.
Trying out her new theory, she moved her bloody hands on one of the dismembered leg of a soldier. She closed her eyes and gathered the essences in between the separated leg and imagined it being sewn back together to the main body. As she slowly opened her eyes, the work was not half bad, but the blood did not stop from flowing.
Before long, the soldier would die caused by too much blood loss. She knew this and considered the possibility of using essences to stop the blood. In her next experiment, that was exactly what she did. Manipulating the essences as replacement for blood clotting, the blood eventually ceased from flowing out of the soldier's wounds.
She expressed a smile so charming upon her success, reminding herself to write down her work when she gets the chance at a later time.
The crimson eyed youth was startled at Lea's sudden change of expression. Although it was a different sort of smile he had seen previously, the current smile was also quite attractive. When the thought briefly flashed through his mind, he immediately cursed at himself.
As if sensing the changes in his mind, Lea turned her cold gaze towards him. With blood splatters on her face, her beauty didn't present its usual majestic effect. On the other hand, the blood simply amplified Lea's frightful appearance accompanied by her cold ruby eyes.
".............----" He felt his throat move with thirst. He didn't understand why but having spent hours with the creepy girl in the same room and left alone to observe, he felt a sense of familiarity.
As if understanding his thoughts, Lea stood up to walk closer to his direction. His chest was confused whether to feel scared or palpitate in anticipation. His mind was not thinking straight after watching a girl perform all sorts of violent experiments before him. But he knew within himself he was hoping for something, but what it was, he did not know. Not yet.
Now a foot in front of him, Lea brought herself down to his eye level and expressed a small smile. Gentleness could be felt from her expression, but he understood better not to believe how he initially felt upon seeing the girl's current smile. He speculated it was his turn to die, be tortured, be a part of her one of the many experiments, etc. But all the while, he remained quiet.
His expression, he thought was his usual deadpan face, but it was most definitely not. Lea was looking at a boy whose face appeared to be delighted. A frown no longer a frown. The line of his mouth no longer straight. His crimson eyes no longer dead nor blank.
What she saw was a pleased and expectant arc of the brows. His mouth displayed a downward expression of envy, while the eyes showed interest.
"You are quite twisted. And here I thought you were simply a pitiful boy." Seemingly amused, Lea completely read through him.
He did not understand himself clearly, but upon Lea's words, a realization struck him. "....................." A small smile creeping into his face.
"Who do you want to hunt down? I'll help you." As if an older sister, Lea asked gently and kindly. Conversation completely devoid of morals.
The crimson eyed youth was rather confused. "Why?"
"You look alive when thinking of killing and in meeting someone who can kill you. I'm not sure yet which one is the real you, but your bloody irises look lovely when they express your are alive." Briefly explained Lea as she ruffled the youth's pink hair.
It was the first time someone had told him such things. He simply observed Lea's face for as long as time continued to tick away. Then eventually, he felt he had found a way to live his life aside from simply following orders.
"I like you." Was all he said, revealing the first brilliant smile he ever made on his face.
"I like you too." Was all she said in understanding. She replied with a rather charming smile, as if finally seeing someone who seemed similar to her strange personality that she would try to mellow down unless she was in battle.
The twisted couple was then established.
[A/N: What I mean by couple doesn't mean that way, but rather just a pair.]
