Twisted Moon - Book 3 of the Black Moon series - Chapter 21: Best Birthday Ever
(Noah's POV - Mon. 16 March 2015)
No matter how hard I try to concentrate on this history book, my mind keeps swaying back to those men who visited Camden yesterday, so I push it away from me, grab my sketch pad and pencil, and then head to the living room where I plump down on the couch and start drawing. Anyway, I have worked all day already, so I can allow myself a moment of recreation before I have dinner, right?
Yesterday, I admitted to Camden that I had been impressed by his friends' height, and I truly was! Those two guys must have been at least 6'1 so compared to my 5'7 - which isn't short at all - I still felt ridiculously small in front of them. This probably has to do with the fact that, exactly like Camden, they seemed to have all the nice muscles at the right places and my thin body did look ridiculous in that matter.
What I didn't tell Camden is that what impressed me even more was how hot they were! Damn! I had never met such handsomeness before! Well, before I met Camden, that is... because I still think that he looks even better than his friends. Camden has the most beautiful features I've ever seen and is exactly the type of guy I am attracted to, but more importantly, I simply love his kindness and protectiveness toward me. I just wish he would reciprocate the infatuation, but I don't despair because I still intend to make him fall for me, however pretentious it may sound.
However, what I am feeling uneasy about is that argument I got to overhear between Camden and his friends. He may have tried to reassure me after they left, I am still feeling guilty for depriving his friends of his presence and I hate the fact that these guys might detest me now. My goal was never to keep him away from them and I would really like him to make up with these guys before it gets too far. I can't afford to ruin a friendship of years. I don't understand why he hasn't explained them the situation. What he does for me is just amazing and that would certainly make them very proud of him. Not everybody would pick up a young homeless from the streets, heal him and take care of his future, right? So why doesn't he just tell them? If they are really his friends, they should be able to understand that, right?
I haven't heard the car arrive so when the entrance door suddenly opens on Camden, I almost jump up on the couch and the pencil in my hand strikes a line across the abstract forms I have been drawing. It is barely nine and I wasn't expecting him so early on a Monday. As Camden walks into the living room, I can tell that his mood is not of the brightest. His eyes are darker than usual, his jaw is tense and his eyebrows are furrowed together.
"Hi... You're home early..." I squeal, a bit nervous from the tension given off by his whole body.
"Good evening, Noah. My last two patients cancelled their appointments," he informs me sternly. "What are you doing?" he then asks suspiciously.
"Just drawing... I was about to go and heat up some leftovers..." I reply cautiously.
"Shouldn't you be working on your lessons instead?" he asks accusingly. Waaaah... The man seems to be in a fucking mood indeed!
"I did work! I almost didn't stop working since eight this morning and until less than an hour ago!" I exclaim for my defense, scowling back at him.
"Alright, let me see this..." he replies on a defying tone.
"Don't you trust me!!?"
"I just want to check your work while dinner heats up in the microwave," he says firmly, as he heads to the kitchen to heat up leftovers from yesterday. With a sigh, I put my sketchpad and pencil on the coffee table and walk to the dining room through the kitchen. He joins me at the table a few seconds later and looks at the essay I prepared. "Is this all you did today?" he asks after a while, his dark eyes meeting mine.
