Twisted Moon - Book 3 of the Black Moon series - Chapter 46: Successful Day
(Noah's POV – Fri. 17 April 2015)"So, 11am at the exhibition tomorrow?" Sean asks as we are packing our stuff and putting away our art supplies.
"I'll send you a text later tonight to confirm," I reply, hastily putting my stuff in my backpack. I am in a hurry to leave school tonight more than ever, because Camden must already be waiting for me outside. Today is D Day! We have an appointment at 6:30pm with Master Aaron for my certification test and I don't want to be late!
"Come on, Noah! With what Mrs. Logan gave you back today, I don't see why Camden wouldn't let you go!" he exclaims with a hushed voice. Well, from Sean's perspective, that sounds obvious, but he doesn't know about the second condition that I need to fill to be allowed to hang out with him tomorrow. Although, that one shouldn't be too much of a problem. With this additional week of training into submission, I feel ready to become a member of the Black Diamond.
"Sean! I would like to see you for a minute, please!" Mrs. Allister calls.
"Don't worry, I'm sure he will! Gotta go now, see you tomorrow!" I whisper before I scurry out of the classroom, first at it for once.
I weave through the mass of teenagers who are also headed toward the exit of the building and quickly notice the black SUV waiting for me. I run in its direction, all smiles and happier than ever, and barge into the passenger side before I shut the door. Camden cocks an eyebrow at me, maybe wondering about this enthusiasm of mine. I could have texted him the results of my Math test earlier, but I wanted to tell him face to face and see his reaction. And I did well!
Without a word, I pull the sheet of paper out of my bag and proudly shove it close to his face, grinning at him. His eyes open widely, as if they were going to bulge out of their sockets before he takes it in his hand. His expression is just priceless! There is a bit of surprise, but what I see is mostly pride, joy and an amazing smile. That only strengthens my own elation.
"You got an A, Baby Boy?" he asks.
Well, that's the letter displaying at the top of the sheet in bright red. So yeah! I, Noah Mitchell, the biggest loser in Math, got an A at my second attempt of the test I failed earlier this week. Okay, it was my second try, but Mrs. Logan had changed all the figures in the exercises to make sure that I had well understood the process of calculation and not learned the answers by heart, so I am really happy with myself on that one. The thing is that with Camden's encouragements and support, I went there completely relaxed.
"Seems like I did, Daddy..." I reply mischievously.
"I'm very proud of you, Baby!" he praises me as he hands me back the test and leans over to kiss me. It truly feels good to make him proud after all I fucked up last week. "I'm so going to rock your ass tonight... but in a good way!" he then murmurs against my lips, leaving me panting before he starts the car and drives off.
We first stop at home for a few minutes to walk and feed Jess, and then we are on our way to Chicago. The closer we get to the club, the faster my heart beats. I know I can do this but I am still stressing a little because I want to make Daddy even prouder of his Baby Boy. All the training sessions this week went well and he has been praising me on how great I was doing. I realized that he was right again and I wasn't ready last week.
On our way there, Camden reminds me for the umpteenth time of all the rules and the traps I shouldn't fall into. I know them by heart already but I still listen to him patiently; I can't really blame him. I also tell him about my plans to meet Sean tomorrow at 11am at the exhibition if I pass the test with Aaron, and he grunts me his approval. I can't help smiling when I see his expression darken a bit. I just love his grumpy side.
