A week after Kian and I's secret-telling trip to Barnes and Noble, our English class had only gotten to Act I Scene 5 of Romeo and Juliet. I haven't read out loud yet, but I'm sure Mr. Allen was going to seek me out and make me read as a character that rambled on about something stupid for a page and a half. That's what most of the play was, anyway. Excellent writing, poor content. At least in my opinion.

"Okay, this scene is when Romeo and Juliet meet at the Capulet party." Mr. Allen announced to the class as we turned to the correct page in our books. "I need a Romeo..." his eyes scanned over the room, seeing no one's hands raised, just like everyday for the past week. Then, he stopped and Kian. "Mr. Lawley, will you be Verona's heartthrob?" He asked but before Kian could respond, he replied sassily. "Great! Now I need a Juliet..."

I turned to Kian, who was sitting beside me, and smiled at him with my brows raised. He rolled his eyes, but smiled back nonetheless.

"Well, since you seem to love giving our Romeo heart eyes, Miss Aldaine," Mr. Allen's voice broke my stare with Kian and caused my cheeks to redden as students laughed. "Why don't you be our Juliet?" And of course, I couldn't say no.

Two guys who didn't care about this at all started the scene by reading the parts of the first and second servant respectfully. The servants were literally just complaining about plates. Plates.

Then two Capulets and Romeo came in. Then, Romeo saw Juliet, and Kian read his ten lines of 'love at first sight'. "O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope's ear; Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear! So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows, As yonder lady o'er her fellows shows. The measure done, I'll watch her place of stand, And, touching hers, make blessed my rude hand. Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." The words sounded more beautiful coming from Kian's lips than they looked on paper.

Modern Day Translation: She's hot.

Then Tybalt and a Capulet spoke of killing and not killing Romeo, then it was time for me to read my lines with Kian.

Kian started, "If I profane with my unworthiest hand This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss."

"Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much, Which mannerly devotion shows in this; For saints have hands that pilgrims' hands do touch, And palm to palm is holy palmers' kiss." I read my part.

"Have not saints lips, and holy palmers too?" Kian said. We were basically talking to each other about kissing, which made me feel a little embarrassed and shy. But I know that we were just reading lines and that this wasn't real.

"Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer." I said, wishing that the scene would end soon because Rachel and Selena were smirking at me from across the room.

"O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do; They pray, grant thou, lest faith turn to despair." Kian said. His eyes flickered to me for a split second then went back to his book.

I held my breath, "Saints do not move, though grant for prayers' sake."

He cleared his throat, "Then move not, while my prayer's effect I take. Thus from my lips, by yours, my sin is purged."

"Then have my lips the sin that they have took." Romeo and Juliet kissed, and my fingers fidgeted with the corner of the page. Why does this feel like Kian and I are having our own conversation, as if this wasn't a play?

"Sin from thy lips? O trespass sweetly urged! Give me my sin again." Kian said, and our characters kissed again. I could hear Selena and Rachel's quiet squeals, but I couldn't find it in me to be bothered. I was too focused on Kian's voice.

Soon enough, the scene was over, and class ended. Normally, Kian and I would walk out of class together, but Rachel and Selena grabbed me and pulled me out of the classroom before I could even glance at him. They dragged me into the restroom and faced.

"Oh my Jesus, I told you! You guys are Romeo and Juliet!" Rachel smiled widely and squealed.

"The sparks were flying between you two, you can't deny it!" Selena said to me.

I shook my head, "That was nothing, we were reading lines. You're overreacting." I tried to convince them, but of course, that didn't work.

Rachel rolled her eyes, "Don't even try to deny it, Davina, everyone in that whole room saw it!"

I groaned, "Can we please just go to class?"

They were hesitant, but they let it go.

The six of us were at our lunch table, Selena and Jc bantering and arguing as per usual, and Rachel and Emilee trying to get Kian to admit something.

"So, who's that second ticket for?" Emilee asked him. "I mean, I need to know so I can put it under her name."

Kian shook his head, "Keep it under mine."

"So you do have a date?" She asked him.

"Not officially, no." He answered, his eyes on the food in front of him, not seeming to be fazed by her constant questions.

She persisted as I watched this unfold, "Yet?"

He sighed and looked up at her. "Yes, Emilee. Not yet."

She smiled, "That's all I need to know." She flashed me a knowing smile and I just rolled my eyes. "Who're you asking?"

"Don't worry about it." He responded, just like he did to me when I asked. Who is this mystery girl that we can't worry about? I'm just as curious as them, seeing as my crush for Kian grows bigger by the second.

Yeah, I finally admitted to myself that I like him. A lot. But I'm not telling my friends or my sister, because they will go crazy and try even harder to get us together somehow.

"You're no fun." Emilee pouted.

"Can you tell us if she goes to this school?" Rachel asked him, and I could tell he was getting tried of the constant questioning, but he answered anyway.

"Yeah, she does." He said, giving me a small bit of hope that scared me a little.

Rachel smiled, "Is she a senior?"

He sighed lightly, "Yes." I bit my lip and tried to keep my eyes off him.

"I know who it is!" Jc announced, causing the girls to gasp and Kian to smack his arm.

"Dude, shut up!" Kian shouted at him.

"Tell me now." Selena demanded.

He shook his head, "Can't, I'm sworn to secrecy by grumpy face over here." Jc said and pointed to Kian, who was glaring at Jc."I wasn't supposed to say anything. And I definitely wouldn't tell a devil woman like you anything!" He shouted at Selena.

She rolled her eyes, "You're a fucking chode."

"What does that mean?" He asked her with furrowed brows.

"You don't wanna know." Emilee said.
