At school the next day, Kian was acting a little funny. He seemed to be nervous about something, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Maybe he was finally going to ask that girl out to homecoming today. I bet it'll be one of those big proposals that the whole school sees and everyone loves it and the girl says yes and I'll be watching it unfold. I don't think I could handle that.

"He's not going to ask someone else." Selena broke me out of my thoughts. We walked into the cafeteria and got in the lunch line. I looked over at her and she gave me a knowing look. "I know he won't."

"How do you know?" I asked as we got our food.

"I've gone to school with him for six years now. I know him better than you think." She said as we paid and walked to our table. Luckily, the others weren't there yet so we could continue our conversation. "He's never even looked at a girl here and then you show up. Now he's with you all the time and he's even hanging out with three other girls because they're your friends." She said, making me think about the facts she was stating. In the time I've known Kian, I've only seen him talk to me, Selena, Rachel, and Emilee. But no other girls. And I've also seen some try to get his attention, but he doesn't even care. Is Selena right?

I sighed, feeling too stressed about this boy I just met less than a month ago. "Are you sure?" I asked her.

She nodded, "Yeah, one hundred percent. I don't think there's any other girl he would ask, I don't think she exists."

Just as I was about to question what she said, Kian, Jc, and the girls came and sat in their usual places at the table. Kian, of course, was next to me. And then he put his arm around my shoulders. "Hey, nerd." He said.

I scrunched my nose up, "I thought I told you to stop that."

He shrugged, "I like it, so I'm going to keep doing it." I rolled my eyes and he smiled, making me smile.

"Kian," Jc said, getting his attention. "When are you gonna-"

"After school." Kian cut him off, using a firm voice. I guess he didn't want us to hear the end of that sentence.

I couldn't help but wonder what was going on. I had an idea, but I pushed it aside.

"I still a need date to homecoming." Rachel broke the tension.

"Three guys asked you out this week and you said no to all of them!" Emilee chuckled.

"But I didn't like them." She whined. "They're just not my type."

Emilee scoffed, "I wish I had your problems."

Selena smirked, "Why don't you tell us who your date is, Em?"

Emilee blushed and looked down at her half eaten slice of pizza. She twirled her curly hair around her fingers and smiled. Her date must be a great guy if she's acting like this just by the mention of him. "It's Shawn." She said.

"Wait, Shawn Mendes? The guy who can sing?" Rachel asked and Emilee nodded. "He's cute, when did he ask you?"

"Yesterday at the football game. I'm surprised you guys haven't heard about it." She answered.

"If you haven't noticed, I'm not very in tune with the news that travels the school." I said. I didn't even know that my sister got asked to homecoming three times and rejected all of them.

Jc laughed lightly, "Huh, you are a nerd."

Kian nudged him, "Hey, only I can call her that." Selena gave me a smirk and I just rolled my eyes. "She's my nerd."

My heart skipped a beat at his words and I just stared at him in shock.

His. His nerd. His.
