*A/N: (PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTINUING) just gonna let you know that Davina is a rule follower, not a rule breaker. That's why she acts the way she does in this chapter and does something she doesn't want to do. Okay, keep reading.*

After saying goodbye to Kian, I hopped out of his car and ran up to my house. I opened the front door and stepped inside. "Mom, I'm here!" I called out.
"Get your ass in this kitchen right now!" She yelled, anger evident in her tone. Anxiety consumed my whole body as I walked into the kitchen. She was standing by the sink, leaning against the counter. Her dark eyes were set on me as soon as I entered the room.
"I was with Kian." I told her, my voice barely above a whisper.
She nodded, "Yeah, I got that." She said with attitude. I gulped lightly, afraid of the harsh words that were about to come out of her mouth. "You ditched school with him, Davina?!" She raised her voice even louder, if that was possible.
Too ashamed to speak, I nodded weakly. She chuckled humorlessly.
"You know, for one fleeting moment, I thought he was a good guy. He took you to Homecoming, drove you home from school, took you to a fucking book store, for god's sake." She continued. A shiver rolled down my spine once she cursed. She doesn't curse unless she's extremely angry.
"He is a good guy, Mom." I spoke up. The look she gave me made me wish I had kept quiet and let her ramble.
She shook her head, "No, I don't think he is. He made you ditch school, you've never done that a day in your life!" She yelled. I was about to disagree, but then I remember Kian dragging me down the hallway and out of the school. My mouth stayed shut. "God, Davina, why would you fall for another boy's stupid tricks? I thought you learned your lesson from Grayson."
Despite the overwhelming feeling of guilt, I glared at her. "Kian is nothing like Grayson." I snapped.
"Open your eyes, Davina!" She shouted. "He is exactly like him! He's trying to get in your head, make you do things you've never done before, just like a teenage boy does!"
"You're wrong." I said, tears threatening to spill down my cheeks. "You don't even know him."
"I don't have to." She scoffed.
"Well, I do!" I yelled at her. She seemed taken aback, I was, too. I had never yelled at her before. I've never fought back. But I had to fight for Kian. "Kian cares about me, Mom. When I told him about Grayson, he didn't judge me. He told me that he would never hurt me." I cried, my voice breaking slightly as the tears ran down my face.
She shook her head again and looked at me with cold angry eyes. "I don't care about what he told you. They're all just lies." She exclaimed. "You are not to see that boy ever again, and that's final."
Before I could protest or even tell her about my growing feelings for him, how I've been falling in love with him ever since I saw him in Barnes and Nobles, or how being without him would rip me apart and leave me broken, she left the room.
I stood there frozen, tears streaming down until they were little puddles on the floor by me feet. I felt my heart break in my chest. The shards of it caused a pain inside of me that I couldn't even begin to explain how much it hurt. She doesn't even care that Kian is the one that's been there for me in ways that no one else has, especially not her. When I told her about Grayson and his friends, she shut me out. She was actually mad at me. But when I told Kian, he comforted me. He listened, he cared.
I can't be without him.
"Davina?" I heard someone whisper behind me. I turned around and saw Rachel and Selena standing in the doorway, concerned looks and frowns etched on their faces. "We heard everything." Rachel said.
