It's been three weeks since I met Kian at Barnes and Noble. Even though I know barely anything about the stranger, I couldn't stop thinking about him. What kind of teenage boy just steps up and buys a girl a book? A very rare (and very handsome) boy, that's who.
School starts tomorrow, and I'm freaking out a little. I never had to start a new school with new people before. But I'm only going to be there for a year, so I'm sure I'll just be outcasted and not be noticed. I don't mind, I prefer to be a wallflower instead of a social butterfly.
"The bus is here!" My mother's voice rang through the house.
I shoved my glasses on my face and slung my worn out leather bag on my shoulder. Then I ran downstairs and met Rachel by the door. We went outside and saw the school bus parked in front of our house.
We got on and as soon as I stepped into the aisle, everyone's eyes were on me. I felt anxious as I followed Rachel and looked down at my black boots that had been scuffed multiple times. My thick curly hair covered my face and I was glad their was some kind of barrier from their stares.
Rachel and I found an empty seat and sat next to each other. She pulled her phone out and began typing away on Instagram or Twitter or whatever. I just looked out the window as the bus drove us to the school. I thought about his dark chocolate eyes and the tattoos that covered his arms. I thought about his messy hair and wondered if it was as soft as it looked.
About fifteen minutes later, we arrived at Orange County High. Rachel and I got off the bus and I looked around at my surroundings. There were probably over a thousand students here, all walking around and talking to each other. No one seemed to notice me or Rachel as we walked into the school and then went to the office.
"Hello, we're the Aldaines, we're here for our schedules and locker information." Rachel said to the lady behind the counter. She gave us a big smile and pushed her glasses up.
"Of course, welcome to Orange County High!" She said to us cheerily and I just smiled at her shyly. She printed out some papers and handed them to us, then told us to have a great first day and to talk to her if we need anything.
"Okay, so you're locker is 453 and mine is 456." Rachel read off the paper as we walked down the crowded hallway. "Hey," She got a girl's attention and she turned to us. Her hair was half black and half purple. She had dark eyes with blue eyeliner tracing them. She was wearing a baby blue crop top and black skirt with red high heels. She stood out from the crowd, that's for sure. "Can you help us find our lockers?" Rachel asked the colorful girl.
She smiled at us, "Yeah, definitely. What are the numbers?" She asked.
"453 and 456." Rachel told her.
"Okay, follow me." She said and started to walk forward. We did as she said and she led us to our lockers. "This is it. I'm Selena, by the way." She was all confidence as she cat walked through the hall on her five inch stilettos. I envied the way she held her head high and sashayed like she owned the place.
"I'm Rachel." Rachel said.
"Davina." I said and smiled lightly.
"I can show you guys around if you want?" She offered nicely.
Rachel nodded, "Yeah, that would be great, thanks."
After we finished getting our stuff out of our lockers, Selena asked for our schedules and we gave them to her. "Okay, so, we all have first period together with Mr. Landon. We also have third, fifth, and seventh together." She said as she read our schedules. "This is Mr. Landon's room, so lets go in before the bell rings."
