Kian's POV *The Next Day*

I had been laying in bed all day, waiting for the right time. I had begged my mom to let me stay in for one more day. I had to if I was going to do this. I know that it's risky and a little crazy on my part, but I have to do it. If I don't, I might loose Davina forever.

Once it was two o clock, I hopped out of bed and straightened up a little bit before leaving my house. I got in my car and started driving. Music blared on the radio as soon as I started the ignition and I quickly turned it down. My thought's were loud enough as it is.

I began to think about what I was going to say. I honestly couldn't find all of the right words, but I'm sure I'll come up with something on the spot. Once I saw the house come into view, I parked my car on the side of the street. I stayed in my car for a few moments, deciding last minute if I wanted to go through with this.

I eventually got out and started to walk up the driveway. My heart was beating rapidly as I knocked on the door. I knew she was home because her car was in the driveway. A few seconds passed and then the door opened, revealing just who I wanted to speak to.

"Kian, what are you doing here?" Davina's mom asked me, looking at me with a shocked expression. "You're supposed to be in school." She said.

"I know, but I-uh," I stammered and I mentally slapped myself for doing so. "Can I talk to you, Miss Aldaine?" I asked.

She stood there for a second with a puzzling and judge mental look on her face. "Sure." She said and let me in. We walked into kitchen and then sat down at the table. We were facing each other and I'll admit, she didn't look happy. "What's this about?" She asked.

"Davina." I said, she nodded and waited for me to keep going. "You might not believe me for whatever reasons you have, but I promise I'm not like her last boyfriend." I told her. She sighed lightly and looked down at the table, crossing her arms. I could tell she didn't want to hear this but I was going to keep talking. "I know that ditching was a stupid idea, and I take full responsibility for that. The reason I asked her to do that was because our friends were fighting and I could tell she wasn't able to handle the situation. So I figured I would take her away from all the drama." I explained.

She sighed once again, "She's never been able to handle fighting." She murmured. "But she's also never ditched before."

I scratched the back of my neck nervously, "I know, I'm sorry. It was stupid but I was just trying to make her happy, at least for a couple hours."

She scanned my face for a moment. She's been analyzing me ever since I got here. "I appreciate that. But that's not the way to do it." She said in a firm voice.

"No disrespect to you, Miss Aldaine, but I don't think that you forbidding her to see me was the right way to handle the situation." She sent me a look but I kept talking. "I can understand why you want to protect her, but I don't think you understand that I wouldn't hurt her in any way."

"And how do I know that?" She asked.

I paused for a second and then motioned to myself. "Well, that's why I'm here."

She stayed silent and just looked at me. I honestly felt intimidated by this. She fumbled with a ring on her finger before speaking up. "Okay, then. Go on." She said quietly.

I thanked God in my head that I had gotten a chance. I cleared my throat before speaking again. "I have strong feelings for Davina and I have since the day I met her. And when she told me about Grayson, I honestly wanted to go to Virgina and beat him up for hurting her. I actually still do." I said, and she smiled a little. "I guess what I'm trying to say is that I my intentions are good, and that I would love it if I could see her again."

She stayed still and just looked at me like she had been for the past couple minutes. I figured she was just digesting what I said, so I let her be. After a small moment she sighed lightly and spoke up. "Davina's dad left us when she and Rachel were just three months old." She said in a quiet matter-of-fact tone. Even though I had never seen any signs of them having a present dad, the news still shocked me. I guess I just can't believe someone wanting to leave their children. "Him and I were married for three years, and then he up and left without a single goodbye." She played with the ring on her finger once again, pain evident in her voice.

"I'm sorry." I choked, not knowing exactly what to say.

She nodded, "The men in our lives have never treated us very well, so I hope you can understand why I acted the way I did. I thought that I was protecting her from another heartbreak, but it turns out that I was causing one." She smiled at me for a second. "So I apologize for my actions. I've been thinking for the past couple days and I realized that I was wrong."

I smiled at her, "So...?"

She smiled back and rolled her eyes. "You can see Davina again."

My grin widened instantly, "Thank you so-" As I was about to finish my sentence, she cut me off.

"Slow down there." She said and laughed a little. I looked at her confused and her face softened back into her serious expression. "Right now, I need a little time to make amends with Davina. So I would appreciate it if you would let us have a day or two without any drama so everything can go back to normal." She said.

I processed what she was saying and frowned a little when I realized I couldn't go back to Davina right away. I missed her so much. I missed her smile, her lips, her hugs, the way she pushes her glasses up on her nose, and how much she pays attention to little details. Going a week without her was almost impossible and it hurt like hell. But I knew that family was important, especially for Davina.

I nodded, "Yeah, sure." I told her.

She smiled and reached over to pat my hand. "Thank you, Kian. I really do appreciate it." She said sweetly.
