Ivy's POV
Michael was sitting in the empty coffee when I got there, He already had two cups sitting in front of him. I smiled to myself and walked up to him "I'll get the food, what do you want?" I asked him he looked up at me with a grin "I'll take a chocolate muffin" He said and I walked to the counter and ordered.
We sat in silence for a few minutes just drinking our drinks and eating before Michael sat bc in his chair stretching his arms above his head "So, talk to me" He said watching me closely "About what?" I asked looking away from his eyes "You know what. What happened back there?" He asked waving his arm behind his head "I told you, Michael. It was nothing" I said slowly dragging my eyes from the floor to look back at him he cocked his head to the side "You can trust me, Ivy. I saw how freaked you got by that blonde haired guy" He said softly I did trust Michael that wasn't the problem the problem is that after I told him would he? "I'm scared" A whisper came out of my mouth before I could stop it he reached out to touch my hand "Why are you scared Ivy? What do you have to be scared of? I'm not going to hurt you" "I know that" I said nodding lightly "Who are you scared of Ivy?" He asked leaning over the table slightly "Luke" His eyebrows furrowed together not knowing who this name is "The blonde haired guy from the shopping centre. He, We use to be best friend's in secondary school and in say 2nd year we separated and he changed. And from there everything went wrong" I explained he kept his eyes on me waiting for me to continue "One of my last night's in Sydney, I was walking home with John, my older brother and it was about 10 maybe half 10 in the night. I can't remember why we where out that late but I do remember Luke and his 'Friends' walking towards us, Even from how far away I was from them I could tell they where drunk" I continued to tell him what happened that night.
John and I where walking home and I knew from afar that the hooded boys ahead of us where drunk. The smallest of the group was stumbling slightly as he walked forward clutching a glass bottle in his hand.
He was slurring my name I looked up at John and saw the fear in his eyes he put a hand around my shoulder "Let's just turn around" He said trying to turn me by my shoulders in the opposite direction "It won't work. They'll follow us J, This is our only way home. Come on" I said slowly shrugging away from his grip on my shoulder.
We continued walking as the hooded boys neared the smallest still calling my name. I noticed one of the group standing at the back with his head down occasionally lifting his hand to swing from the bottle in his hand. He was wearing a baseball hat under his hood "What do you want?" I recognised the voice straight away as the voice of Jack Pyke "You're in our way, We just want to get home so if you'd move I'd appreciate it" I said slowly trying to keep my voice from shaking "Well go ahead" He said gesturing for me to walk through the middle of them I took a deep breath and walked forward before feeling my shoulder get grabbed and felt myself get pulled backwards "I don't think so" Troy Jackson spoke now "Don't touch her" John shouted then I heard him groan I turned my head to see him doubled over his face contorted by pain I went to speak but my mouth was covered by a hand "Keep your mouth shut and he won't get too hurt" Troy whispered in my ear.
My arms where then pinned behind my back tightly and all I could do was watch John be thrown to the floor in front of me " Who wants first go huh? Monster what about you? This prick seems to bring out the worst in you" Jack said smirking at me I gulped heavily and the boy with the baseball hat on slip his hood off and pushed up his sleeves he made eye contact with me and I recognised the bright blue eyes that had turned a darker shade he cut the eye contact quickly and began beating and kicking my brother on the floor. I tried to scream out through my cries but my muffled scream and only made Luke beat him more.
After he was satisfied Luke stood up and brushed himself down "Come on. Hemmings, Let's get out of here" Jack said smirking at me before placing an arm around Luke's shoulders and as he walked away Luke looked at me again I felt his eyes on me as I slid to my knees beside John "John? John talk to me?" I said desperately slapping his bloody face to try to get a reaction but his body made no movement.
He spent a week in hospital after his beating, A therapist was arranged and he was sent away from us. The doctors said his condition was too serious for him to stay living with us.
I felt a hand on my cheek I hadn't realised I was crying but Michael was slowly wiping away the tears with his thumb I looked up at him "I'm so sorry, Ivy." He whispered slowly I shrugged "It wasn't you was it? It's fine you don't need to apologise" I said forcing my lips to curve into a smile but he saw straight through it "You don't need to be scared, Ivy. Me or Calum wouldn't let anyone hurt you" He said with a genuine smile as he squeezed my hand I nodded but I knew if Luke wanted to hurt me my new friends would not be able to protect me it's not like it would be the first time.
