Luke's POV
Today I was awoken by the sound of my phone ringing, I groaned and rolled over tapping the surface of the table beside my bed to find the source of the loud ringing. Finally my hand came across the phone and I brought it up to my face only to see an unexpected caller ID flashing on the screen
"Hello" I answered quickly "Hey, it's me. I can't talk for long but I just wanted to check up on you. How are you doing?" My brothers voice spoke low into the phone and I guessed he was near my mother "I'm..I'm okay" I said still trying to get my head around hearing my brother a voice for the first time in months "I'm sorry I didn't call sooner, you know how she is" He said bitterness clearly present in his voice "Its fine" I lied "Are you safe? Where are you? Do you have to enough money? I can bring you some more" He asked so many questions so quickly I didn't know which to answer first but I didn't want to tell him where I was "Yes I'm safe. I have to enough money to keep me that way you don't need to worry"
I assured him
"How are you?" I asked changing the subject "I miss you. Are you ever coming home?" "I don't have a home. I'm not welcome in her house remember?" I asked my brothers loud sigh made me take the phone away from my ear slightly "Of course I remember. Dads worried sick about you and even though she doesn't show it I know mum is too. We just want you to come home" He said softly "Well I don't want to come home. Sorry" I said before hanging up.
The day after I got arrested I woke up in the late afternoon and shuffled my way down the stairs. I wasn't thinking seriously about what my mum had said to me just a few hours into this morning, I guessed that she was just tired and angry at me. When I reached the kitchen I found my mother, father and both of my older brothers sitting at the long dining room table. The sight of my mothers serious face was worrying but the fact that she'd gathered everyone in the family made me more nervous then I'd ever been. I thought about ignoring them and grabbing breakfast but my fathers voice called me "Luke, come and sit down at the table please" He said clearing his throat I could tell by the way he was talking that he disliked this situation just as much as I did. I slowly walked over and sat at the bottom of the table facing my father who was sat at he head and the others sat around him.
The silence was unbearable and I was praying that someone would talk first and that it wouldn't have to be me, I was thankful when my father began talking "Now Luke, I know all of this looks very serious-" "It is serious. Very serious" My mothers bitter voice cut him off "We spoke after I collected you, Luke and what I said, I very much meant. I will not have a criminal living under my roof" "But mum" "Do not. Call me that. I am not your mother, You are not the son I brought up and I will not have a stranger call me that" My mother spat fiercely she hasn't even looked in my direction since I sat down.
Both my brothers and my dad up and left the room in quick succession obviously not agreeing with what mother was saying but they were unable to change anything now.
Another silence fell upon us before my mother spoke again "You have 15 minutes to get your things before I call the police and report you as an intruder" I quickly stood up and left the room running for the stairs but I bumped into my brother who was sat on the bottom of the stairs with his head in his hands "Can't I come and live with you?" I pleaded he stood up shaking his head "Don't you think we've tried to beg her to let you live with us? She won't have it. There's nothing we can do, Luke" He said, I'd never seen my brother cry before but now I could see the tears building in them. Before I began crying too I ran up the stairs and slammed my bedroom door shut behind me, I leant against it and slid down to sit on the floor.
I couldn't believe that this was really happening, first I'd lost my best friend the only girl I'd ever loved and now my family were disowning me. A fist punching the door made me jump forward "5 minutes" My mother shouted through the door. I stood up and pulled anything I could lay my hands on into a rucksack from under my bed.
When I was at least slightly content with my bag I headed for the door not before grabbing hold of my one prised possession and then I left the room shutting the door quietly for the last time. There was no one waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs so I quickly lefty house keys on the table beside the front door and walking out of it making sure to slam the heavy door behind me. My father and brothers were standing in a row down the pathway and each of them hugged me tightly, slipping money as I passed them. I called my last goodbye to them and my old life and walked away just before the tears came.
Ivy's POV
It had been two weeks now since the incident with Michael and I'd tried to spend every waking minute with him afraid that he would try again if he was left alone long enough to dig into his thoughts. Neither of us had mentioned what happened afterward in my kitchen or what he had told me before he kissed me so I was still at a loss. I put it down as that he was just thanking me for talking him out of what he was planning on doing so I didn't ask questions.
I walked through the park on my way to Michael's house and heard singing and the light playing of a guitar. I stopped to listen though the voice sounded far away I could make out the song the singer was playing
A drop in the ocean, a change in the weather I was praying that you and I might end up together
His voice was beautiful, he had me entranced within seconds and I knew that I had to go in search of the singer. I found him sitting on the edge of the path the guitar placed across his lap I recognised him instantly. I'd never got the chance to hear Luke sing as he was always afraid of critism I stood behind him so I could listen to the ending of the song. I sat on the grass and closes my eyes lost in the beautiful sound of Luke's voice.
"Hey there" Luke's voice made me jump my eyes shot open and I looked up at him "Your beautiful.. I mean your voice. Your voice is beautiful" I stuttered taking his hand as he helped me stand up he chuckled lightly "Well thanks" He said a light pink colour creeping onto his cheeks "I love that song" "I remember" I smiled at him before looking to the ground "You could always sing with me? You know if you don't have some other place to be?" He asked shyly "No, I have time"
