Luke's POV
I tried to keep my eyes on Michael as he paced back and forth "Can you please stop? You're making my head hurt" I told him pinching the bridge of my nose "Sorry" He mumbled coming to sit beside me "This is just all too fucked up" He told me I nodded in agreement
"That's why I think I'm going to leave" I told him of the plan I'd been going over in my head for the past week "Wait, what? Why? Where are you going to go?" His question's came thick and fast making me take a minute to figure out my answers "Like you said, its all too fucked up here. I can't stick around here and watch her with some other dude, I had enough of that when I thought you and her were together. She was my only reason to be here and now that's gone" I told him with a small shrug of my shoulders as I tried to keep my tone of voice casual despite my true emotions although he already knew them.
"Then what am I? I thought we were at least friends" Michael said his voice rising as he jumped up off of the bench I instantly felt bad as I saw the hurt in his eyes "I, I'm sorry, Michael" I stuttered he shook his head "Whatever. You go, runaway like you do and I'll be stuck here with all this bullshit" He spat turning to walk away from me.
I sighed heavily as I stood up to follow him I called after him but he ignored me "Why don't you just come with me? You're always saying that your parents don't give a fuck anyway" I offered he snapped his head back to look back at me a small smile playing on his lips "Really?" He asked unable to stop his lips from turning into a smile "Yeah sure. I mean not if you don't want to" I mumbled looking to the floor I heard him chuckle lightly before I felt a hand grasp my shoulder "Let's runaway together, Luke" He said in a high pitched imitation of a girls voice I rolled my eyes laughing at him lightly "Let's"
Calum's POV
I hadn't seen or heard from Michael for a few days, since Ashton's party. I knew it was a stupid idea bringing him there especially with all the Cara stuff. I shouldn't have offered but once Ivy got him to go I thought he was fine with the whole thing but as soon as I caught him drinking I knew that he wasn't. If I was a good friend I wouldn't have let him drink anymore once I'd seen him down one, I would've taken him home straight away and played Fifa with him or something but I didn't. I got distracted by a random girl and I left him to it and now I had no idea how he was. He didn't turn up to school on Monday so as soon as the last bell rang I headed to his house. His parents were usually out but this time his mother was outside, her face worried and eyes frantic "Mrs. Clifford?" I asked making her jump "Calum! Is Michael with you?" She said with such a hopeful tone I furrowed my eyebrows "No he wasn't in school today that's why I came here" I explained to her I heard her curse under her breath "Can I ask what's wrong? Is he out or" I let my voice trail off "No he isn't here. He left on Saturday and I haven't seen him since. I came home on Sunday morning to this" She said shoving a crumpled piece of paper into my hand confused, I opened it up and read over the scribbled writing
Tell Calum that I'm sorry
My heart began to pound against my ribcage and I felt sure that if I looked down it would be bursting out of my skin "I don't understand" I stated more to myself than Michaels mother "Well if you don't I have no idea how I'm supposed to" She said taking the note from mg hand again and walking back into the house slamming the door behind her.
I focused on moving my feet towards the place I'd found Michael the last time I'd received a note like this from him. I was relieved to say the least when I didn't see the shadow Michaels figure sitting up on the bridges edge as I had previously. As relieved as I was I'd hoped he may have been up there so I knew where he was but now I was as clueless as before. I really had no clue as to where Michael could be I would call Ivy but she might be with Ashto- Ashton! Of course.
I ran through the graveyard careful not to step on any graves, I remember Ashton mentioning that he'd saw Michael at Cara's grave once before and he didn't like it. I finally got there but found no Michael I knelt down and read the card on a what seemed like fresh bunch of flowers
Cara,
I'll never forget you. I am truly sorry I hope you know that.
See you on the flipside,
Michael.x
So he had been recently but this was no clue as to where he could be or how long ago he was here. Fuck.
From there I searched the whole town by myself and had no luck in finding Michael. I really didn't want to have to go to Ivy yet again for help on finding my best friend but I knew that as it came to 8pm and I still hasn't found him that I needed to. She opened the door after one ring of the bell "Oh hi Calum" She said sounding a little disappointed that it was me "Who were you expecting?" I asked "Luke. I know that's stupid but I thought he'd have come by by now" She said walking through the house for me to follow her "So what's up?" She asked pushing herself up to sot on the countertop "I was just wondering if you'd seen Michael?" I asked her trying not to let the worry fill my words "Not since Saturday. When he ran out" "Ran out?" "Yeah out of Ashton's house. He was bleeding I'm not sure what happened but he was in a rush I get out" She told me slowly "Why didn't you tell me this before?" I asked slightly pissed off that shed kept it to herself "I don't know, you seemed to be having fun with Ashton" She shrugged "I am sorry, Calum" I nodded once "I have to go" I excused myself she called my name once but I didn't bother going back.
