Michael's POV
I finally reached home and ran to my bedroom throwing myself onto my bed face down and letting the emotion release. I could hear my phone constantly ringing in my pocket it was beginning to really irritate me, I rolled over and pulled it from my pocket seeing the name that was flashing across the screen I turned it off throwing it away from me and going back to my misery.
Once the tears stopped I got into the shower to try and calm myself down. I let the water wash over me but it did nothing to calm me it may have made me even more on edge than I was. I got dressed again and saw my phone on the floor sighing I bent over and picked it up turning it back on. As soon as it was loaded up I was bombarded with notifications of missed calls and text messages all from Cara
Michael, please don't be so hasty. Just come over and let's talk.
I know what I did was horrible but just let me explain.
Come on Michael, you can't ignore me forever. I'll be waiting at home all night. I'll stay up all night and all day until you come over if that's what it takes.
I scanned through a few of the many messages that Cara had sent me but they all had the same thing written in them just worded differently. She really thought that I would go running back to her after what she'd done to me? She could wait as long as she wanted but I would not go. I knew I should not let myself go.
But I was still in love with her, it was impossible to have fallen out of love with her after a few hours as much as I wished that I could. Even for no one else but myself I needed to go back and talk to her, even if I was never planning on seeing her again after this I needed to get stuff off of my chest and going to her was the only way the I could think of doing that.
I drove to her house right away and walked up the familiar driveway to knock on her door. Cara answered, her cheeks were pink and her eyes were red, she smiled when she saw me but I didn't change my blank expression "I didn't think you would come" She said "I didn't come for you" I told her keeping my tone normal "No of course not, are you coming in?" I nodded stepping around her and walking into their small living room.
I'd always felt too cramped when I came here, especially if a member of her family decided to join us as we watched tv or a movie. I wondered if they knew about the other guy, if she'd sat right in this small living in room under his arm as she'd done with me countless times in the past few months. Cara came into the room behind me and sat down in the arm chair but I stayed standing "Listen, Michael" She began I shook my head "I didn't come here to listen to your bullshit excuses, Cara. I don't want to hear them" I shouted fiercely she looked to the floor and I desperately hoped that no one other than us were at home
"You don't understand" She said in a small voice "Oh I understand alright. For the whole months of this, whatever you'd like to call it you've been seeing another guy is there anything wrong with what I just said? Am I wrong?" I asked quickly "Well no bu-" She began but she cut herself off obviously not having a plausible excuse as to what she'd actually been doing "I don't know why I bothered coming your not worth my time" I told her making sure to make eye contact with her as I shook my head before walking out of the house all together.
Cara was running up behind me trying to tug on my arm to pull me back inside as she shouted my name but each time I pulled away from her grip. I saw the tears rolling down her cheeks as she begged for me to go back inside and listen to her but I got into my car and slammed the door. I thought she'd gone back into the house so I began reversing out of the driveway until I heard a loud clunk noise I jumped out of the car and ran around to the back to find Cara laud on the floor blood pouring from her head. I shouted at her as I knelt beside her trying to get her to open her eyes but she didn't move I dialled the emergency number and asked for an ambulance which arrived not long after I'd made the call. My hands and every part of me were shaking as I sat in the ambulance as the paramedic tried to get some kind of response from her as I had tried to do but he got the same reaction as I did, nothing.
I was taken into a small 'relatives' room and told to wait there until they had news on Cara's condition. I paced the room what had to have well into the 50 times before Cara's family poured into the room, her parents, younger and older brother and others that I hadn't met "Michael" Zach, her younger brother called looking up at me with her brown eyes "Yes mate?" I asked sitting on my knees so I was at his level "Why did you hurt my sister?" He asked innocently I was taken back by his question I stood up straight and looked around the room meeting the judgemental eyes of everyone on the room as they awaited my answer. I couldn't take any more, I had to get out of there "It was an accident" I whispered before I ran out of the room.
I found a bench outside and I slumped onto it. I thought as if I was about to vomit my hands and legs were shaking. I was sat there for a long time when I felt someone sit on the bench beside me I looked and saw a boy who looked about my age, he had dark hair and tanned skin, he had his head in his hands I cleared my throat making him look up at me and I recognised him from my school. He was in my year but I hadn't spoken to him though we'd been in school together for 3 years at this stage "You're Michael, Michael Clifford right?" He asked eyeing me with his now red eyes I nodded "And you are" My mind went blank as I tried to remember his name "Calum Hood" He told me smiling slightly at me I nodded the name sounding familiar now.
We sat in silence before I asked him a question "What's wrong? Why were you crying before?" trying not to sound really nosy "My uh ex girlfriend just died" He said shaking his head almost in disbelief "Oh I'm sorry man" I told him softly he nodded "Well she wasn't really my girlfriend, not just mine anyway" He said I swallowed hard "What do you mean?" I asked quickly my hands beginning to get sweaty "She'd been cheating on me for our whole relationship. I found out yesterday, I only broke up with her yesterday" He told me at this point my mind had begun racing "What was her name?" I could barely get the question out "Cara, Cara Jones" He said watching me as I collapsed onto the ground.
I'd killed her, she was dead because of me.

I didn't realise that I was crying until Ivy reached out a hand and wiped my cheek for me "I'm so sorry, Michael" She whispered crying herself I shrugged "Its okay. I'm okay" I lied to her I was far from okay.
