I'd always liked to come to the park and sing the last time I had Ivy had appeared out of nowhere so I thought why not try it again.

This time was different though, this was a song I'd written about her, weeks ago. It was the first time I'd sang the lyrics to anyone but Michael.

He said he liked the song and thought I should sing it to Ivy but I was way too cowardly to even go near her anymore.

Calum had told me over and over that she was now happy with some dude and that I should leave her alone but it wasn't as easy as that for me.

I was in love her and had been for as long as I could remember and I just wasn't ready to let her go yet. I just wasn't so sure on how I would get near her when she was always with her new 'boyfriend'.

I packed up my guitar and the few dollars of loose change people had thrown into my case during my busking stint and brushed myself off before leaving my little spot on the edge of the curb.

Someone grabbed my sleeve and I turned quickly to lock eyes with a pair of beautiful green ones

"Ivy? Wha- What is it?" I stuttered she smiled at me for a minute before speaking

"I was listening to you sing. You're so good!" She said shyly looking to the floor I rolled my eyes "You've heard me sing plenty of times"

"Not like that. What was that song? I loved it, I want to listen to it again" She smiled

"Erm I'm not sure what the bands name is. Sorry" I swallowed hard as she nodded

"That's okay" she nodded slowly

A silence fell and I thought about walking away but my feet didn't move so I stayed and just stared at her for a while until I saw a blush start to creep into her cheeks "Why are you staring at me?" She asked biting her lip

"I guess that's your boyfriends job now" I shrugged she looked to the floor

"I guess it is" She replied

"Well good for you. I'd love to hear more about how perfect he is for you and how much better he is for you then I ever was or could ever be but I've got to go because seeing you happy because of someone that isn't me breaks my heart. See you" I willed myself say it aloud to her but I didn't. I said a simple goodbye and walked away from her although I could feel her watching me I didn't look back at her.

Ivy's POV

Listening to Luke sing was my a guilty pleasure of mine. Anytime I walked through the park on my way to Ashton's house I'd hear him singing and recognise his voice instantly. I always stood hidden and listened to him for a while but today I walked up to him as he was walking away.

He seemed shocked to see me at first but then he composed himself and we talked. I tried to keep up the conversation but he wasn't saying much to help me so I gave up.

That was the story of me and Luke in a nutshell. I would try too hard and he wouldn't try at all and in the end I'd just give up because no matter how much I loved or cared about him he'd never love or care for me half as much and that's what hurt the most. To know that the person you love would never love you the same way.

Of course, I have Ashton now, but he wasn't Luke and he never would be.
