The next day at school I was ecstatic. I mean, my dad finally left. I mean I love him in all, but he's always slapping my mom. I mean, If I was her, I wouldn't forgive him that easily.
When I was sitting by myself, this girl that looked kinda edgy came over. She had straight blonde hair with grey streaks an and she was dressed in all black and had a lip piercing.
"Hey." She said as she sat down in front of me.
I munched on my sandwich as I mumbled out a "Hi."
"You're cute, you know that?"
I just stared at her blankly. Was this girl actually hitting on me?
"Uh..." Is all I could manage spit out.
"Hey, you wanna maybe go-
"I'm straight. I'm just telling you." I cut her off. This was embarrassing.
"Oh...That's cool." She said as if she had a horrid taste in her mouth.
She got up and walked away.
Now if that wasn't awkward, I don't know what is.
I am straight though. I always have been. I don't understand why someone would mistake me for a lesbian, or bisexual. Seriously, what gives it off?
Even though I spent my years of childhood being bullied, I still had my share of crushes. Except none of them ever gave a fuck about me.
When I was ten, I had a crush on this guy named Max Marcott. He was really cute. But like most of the kids, he made fun of me. It hurt. Like a bunch of tiny pocket knives hitting my heart one at a time.
But, I got over him. Easy as one, two, three.
My next class was P.E. Oh joy.
We jogged the lap, and like I always did, I listened to my music. After we got done, we had the option to walk.
I walked around the field about three times before someone tapped on my shoulder and scared the living daylights out of me.
I turned around and I pulled out my ear buds and honestly did not believe what was standing in front of me.
A guy. And a cute one at that.
He had dirty blonde hair that was styled kind of to the side, but a bit spiked. He had deep blue eyes and was wearing a black jacket over his gym uniform. He stood there tall and awkward, just staring at me, he scratched the nape of his neck awkwardly.
The most attractive thing about him? He had a lip piercing and tattoo on his left arm. I love guys with tattoos. Even though they sometimes remind me of my dad, I still find them incredibly attractive.
"Hi. I saw you walking by yourself..." He trailed off. I was kinda confused myself on what he wanted to talk to me about.
"I saw your Sleeping With Sirens shirt and I wanted to compliment you on it."
I looked down at my faded black Sleeping With Sirens and smiled.
"Thanks. Do you like them?"
"Duh! They're awesome!" His face lighted up like a little kid on Christmas.
"Do you also like Falling In Reverse?"
"Totally!" I said almost a little too enthusiastic.
I had met my match. A guy who like me, had a love for post-hardcore boy bands. I felt like I was in heaven.
"If you don't mind my asking, what is your tattoo?" I pointed at the mysterious tattoo half covered up by his jacket.
He pulled up his sleeve and it was clear that it was a long tattoo. It went up to his bicep.
"Damn. That's a pretty big tattoo. Did ya get in trouble for that at all?" I asked. Cause a tattoo like that...I doubt they allow it.
"Hell yeah. That's why I have to wear this damn thing everyday." He gestured to his jacket.
"Oh and its a snake. A python to be exact." He said and I nodded in reply.
I stared at it for a few seconds. It looked painful to get. I mean, I want a tattoo but I wanted something...less big.
"That looks like it hurt like a bitch."
"Eh, kinda. I got it for my eighteenth birthday."
He was eighteen? That means he's probably a senior.
"Does that make you a senior?"
"Nah, I got held back. I'm a sophmore."
"So. What's your name?" I asked, Because I was just wondering, We had been talking for at least five minutes and we still didn't know each other's name.
"Oh sorry, Its Alex." He said smiling and held out his hand for me to shake.
"Nova." I said politely, shaking his hand, which practically engulfed my tiny one.
We spent the rest of the class walking together talking about our favorite bands and such.
"So, did you just move here?" I asked him as we walked around the field.
"Yep, I just moved from upstate Atlanta." He said and I nodded.
"So, Nova, What's your story?" He asked with a smirk on his face.
I chuckled at his honesty. "What do you mean?" I asked him as I kicked a tuft of grass in my way.
"You know, your likes, dislikes and such." He said shrugging as he put his hands in his jacket pocket.
"Well, my favorite bands are Sleeping with Sirens, Falling in Reverse and Pierce the Veil. My favorite hobbies is TV watching, music listening and Tumblr." I said and he chuckled.
"I'm lazy. What can I say?" I said shrugging my shoulders.
"It's okay, so am I. What's your favorite food?" He asked and I stopped in my tracks and immediately replied.
"Poptarts." I said with a smile.
"Any particular flavor?" He asked chuckling at my enthusiasm as we kept on walking.
I shook my head. "Any kind. My mom buys the huge boxes since she knows how much I love them." I said as I glanced over at the benches where some popular people were snickering at us. I rolled my eyes and turned my attention back to Alex.
"So, Alex, what's your story?" I asked nudging his shoulder.
"Well, I just moved here with my dad and my younger sister, my favorite bands are Sleeping with Sirens, Falling in Reverse and Nirvana. My favorite food is french fries." he said smiling.
"Oh my god." I said sarcastically. "I love french fries too!" I said in a high pitched voice.
"Really?" He replied, following my joke.
We laughed and kept talking until the coach blew the whistle and we walked in the back doors. Me and Alex parted ways and he winked at me as I we walked in our opposite doors, which I replied by sticking my tongue out at him.
