*For past readers, I've decided to make this story into two parts so that I could keep writing it. *

Three years later:"Get it out!" I yelled
"I can't! It's stuck!" She said in frustration.
I groaned as me and Riley tried to pry my foot out of the boot. By now, the entire store of Payless was staring at us.
"Excuse me, do you ladies need any help?" The woman who worked there said, a bit of agitation in her voice.
Riley let go of the boot and fell on her ass, sitting up and blowing her bangs out of her face.
"You try it." She said, standing up.
The woman sighed and walked over, grabbing the boot and with all her might, yanked on the shoe.
After a couple of yanks, the boot came off my foot in a quick motion, sending the lady to the floor.
"Thanks." I said, standing up and grabbing my purse.
"No problem." She said, standing up and brushing off her pants.
My face turned a shade of red as I grabbed Riley's hand and walked out of the store.
As soon as we got out the door, Riley busted out laughing.
"That was priceless!" She said, trying to regain her sanity.
"I'm glad you're so amused." I said as we made our way through the mall.
"Nova, you have to admit that was pretty funny." She said, snorting.
"Yeah, but what am I supposed to wear now?" I asked, pulling my phone out of my pocket.
"We still have a couple of days to find something." She said, looking in a couple store windows.
I sighed to myself. It was Thursday and Saturday, Alex and I were inviting our parents to eat to tell them that we're engaged. I'm pretty nervous about this because both of our parents are divorced and, having all of them in our apartment at once wasn't such a good idea.
"I know, I know." I said as we walked into JcPenny.
After a couple hours of unsuccessful shopping, I dropped her off at her and Ryder's place. They've been dating for five years now, and Alex spilled it to me that Ryder was planning on popping the question soon.
I drove home to our apartment. As I was walking up the stairs, my phone started to ring.
"Hey mom." I said.
"Hey honey, am I still coming for dinner on Saturday?" she asked.
"Yes mom, and remember, Dad and Alex's parents are gonna be there too." I said as I reached the door.
"Yes I know. I'm looking forward to seeing you sweetie." She said and I smiled.
"Me too mom." I said as I rested my phone in between my shoulder and ear as I unlocked the door.
"Well I've gotta go sweetie, see you on Saturday!" She said as I opened the door.
"See you mom." I said before she hung up.
I dropped my keys in the dish by the door and walked into the living room. Alex was sitting at the coffee table in front of his laptop with a puzzled look on his face.
I sat down next to him and he looked up and kissed my cheek.
"Hey babe." he said as I leaned my head on his shoulder.
