I blinked to make sure I wasn't dreaming. And this wasn't no daydream.
It was a nightmare
I was standing there in the doorway with Alex behind me and my parents were in the living room, in the midst of a fight.
We all stood there in silence before Alex, being the person he is, broke the silence by coming from behind me and shaking my dad's hand.
"Nice to meet you Mr. Kelly." He said, I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for my dad's reaction.
My dad stared at him a couple of seconds before accepting and shaking his hand back.
"Mark Kelly. And you are?" My dad said and my eyes flew open in shock.
"Alex Walter. I go to school with Nova." Alex spoke, like a pro if I do say so myself.
I stood there in awe. He just took it upon himself to introduce him to my dad. My dad's a very built and intimidating man. Most guys if they were in his position, would shit their pants and run away.
I finally spoke. "We were just coming over to study."
My dad nodded his head. I grabbed Alex's hand and pulled him upstairs to my room. When we got to my room I immediatly closed the door.
"What was that about?" I asked him, a bit is hysteria laced my features.
"What do you mean?" He said sitting down on my bed.
I rolled my eyes. "Introducing yourself to my father! Did you know that my dad is very protective of me? I'm his only daughter! If he found out you were eighteen, He would literally chop your balls off and put them in a blender!" I yelled, almost on the verge of screaming.
He blinked. Then again. Before he busted out laughing.
I didn't understand this guy's sense of humor. I just told him that my dad would chop his balls off and he's laughing. Did I miss something? Aren't guys supposed to be protective of their hard candies?
"Why are you laughing?" I asked as I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
"You just sounded so serious and..." He said before he busted into another laughing fit.
"You do know that I'm serious right?" I asked as I tried to knock some sense into my boyfriend. Well, friend that was a boy. Yeah. We weren't dating. Not yet at least. You get what I'm trying to say.
The smile on his face slowly faded and all color vanished from his face, he swallowed slowly.
"...Y-You're serious?" He said, almost choking on his words and I nodded.
"I'm dead." He said as he fell back onto my bed.
I rolled my eyes. "Stop being a drama queen and let me talk to him." I said walking towards the door.
I spun around on my heels. "Just make sure not to do anything...suspicious." I said and he nodded.
I opened my door and closed it. I was afraid that he might climb out my window in fear of his life. My dad would hurt him. That's no joke. I've seen him beat someone up, and it's not pretty. I mean he taught me to fight myself.
As I jogged downstairs I saw my mom and dad sitting opposite couches. When I reached them my dad stood up.
"So...who is he?" He asked in a monotone voice.
"He's a friend." I said calmly.
"How old is he?" He asked almost immeditely after my response. There's that little devil question. I knew it would come up.
"Sixteen." I lied, in fear of Alex's health.
"And that tattoo on his arm?" My dad asked.
Damn. I forgot about that. Think Nova, Think!
"His dad let him get it." I finally blurted out, I internally sighed at the relief of my speedy reply. I'm a genius.
"Hmm...Ok." My dad said, shrugging his shoulders.
I nodded awkwardly before starting to head upstairs before I heard my dad's voice again.
"Nova?" He asked from behind me.
I walked backwards down the stairs and turned to face my dad.
"Are you two dating?" He said in a stern tone.
"No dad, I told you. We're just friends." I said.
"Ok. Because if you do date, and he hurts you-"
I rolled my eyes and hugged my dad. " I know, thanks dad." He smiled, Which he hasn't done in a while.
"No problem." He said as I started to walk upstairs, not being stopped this time.
I ran upstairs and into my room to find Alex sitting on my bed, right where I left him.
"So?" He asked, sitting up quickly.
"It's fine. I told him you were sixteen, he actually bought it."
He sighed and immeditely untensed. "Ok good."
"I really don't want to study." I said flopping onto my desk chair.
"Me neither." he said leaning back on my bed.
"So what do you think we should do?" I asked after blowing out a breath.
After talking a few minutes about what we wanted to do, before I knew it we were climbing out my window and going to his house to get his car.
I realized how much I love hanging out with Alex. And going on our little adventures like we do.
