"Oh Shit." Alex said as his face grew pale.
"Wait here." I said getting out of the car and running up to the door where my dad sat, looking as if he could kill someone, which I hope he doesn't tonight.
I heard Alex get out of the car behind me. I take it he stood behind the car.
As I approached the front steps, my dad got up and cocked his shotgun.
"Where the hell have you been Nova?!"He said and I could smell alcohol on his breath.
"Dad, have you been drinking?" I asked as I sighed.
"Well, what do you expect me to do when my baby girl's out with some guy she doesn't even know?!" he said, slurring some of his words.
"Dad, calm down. I'm fine. Alex is fine. I'm home now; Put. The gun. Down." I said, singling out my words to make a point to my intoxicated father. I put my hands on the gun and struggled to get it out of my dad's hands.
I guess Alex chose that moment to come up the walkway, cause my dad forced the gun up to aim and I immediately pointed it down, and it went off. The shot was probably heard from blocks away. I immediatly fell to my knees and laid down on the ground.
"Nova!" Alex shouted running over to me and kneeling down to me.
"What was that?" My mom said running out of the house in her pajamas.
"Nova!" She said running over to me. "Mark, what the fuck did you do?!"
My dad just stood there in shock. He had shot his own daughter in the foot, even being drunk he was shocked. He was so still.
My foot felt like a million pocket knives were jabbed into my foot. I writhed in pain.
Alex grabbed his cell phone and called the paramedics.
It took the paramedics about 10 minutes to get there, by then Alex had made a tourniquet out of his shirt and wrapped it around my foot. As they pulled me onto the gurney, Alex and my mom got into the back of the ambulence with me, leaving my dad standing there in his shocked state. My dad got handcuffs placed on him shortly after the paramedics arrived and charged with drunken state with possession of weapon.
I sat there in the ambulence as the paramedics wrapped my foot in a better tourniquet then Alex's shirt.
I laid there, holding Alex's hand.
When we got to the hospital, they rushed me into the emergency room, me mom followed me in, but Alex had to stay in the waiting room. I felt his hand let go of mine and I turned my neck to see what happened, apperantly, only family can come in passed the white doors. I pouted and muttered a small "Dammit" under my breath.
My hair was still wet from being in the pond and was hanging loosly on my shoulders as they rolled me into a room.
They moved me onto a bed in a small room that was seperated by a blue curtain. A doctor came in shortly after and took a look at my foot. As he looked at my foot, a nurse hooked me up to an IV pole.
After a lot of examining, they told us the news. I'm lucky that the bullet hit where it did, cause if it had of hit one of my nerves, I probably would of never been able to walk again.
When they removed the bullet, there definitely was a lot of pain. I winced so many times, but, I never cried. But when they started the stitches, my tears started free falling down my face.
__
After they stitched up my foot, they put a cast on it. The doctor said that I'd probably be in a cast for at least 5 months. 6 at the most.
