Chapter 118

"I am one of the Soarta's psyches."

Paulit ulit iyon umalingawngaw sa tenga ni Stein. He just stared at his mother out of confusion.

"Psy...ches?"

Soarta's?

"It is known as messengers. We carry the information that was told to us in order to guide you in the fate you are walking at."

"You...are working directly for her?" he asked cautiously. He might have misunderstood it,

Michelle closed her eyes and nodded. "It was a very long time ago when she showed herself in front of us."

Oh, he did not.

"Us? I do not understand. Who do you mean by 'us'?"

"Rowena, Margaux, and Arnie."

His eyes widened a bit. Those familiar names...

"We were all working directly to the Soarta. No one knew our identities aside from the four of us. However, we got ruined because of the chaos and misunderstanding. Rowena betrayed me. Margaux got killed by Arnie and Arnie planned for Rowena's downfall. I had to leave all of them in order to protect my children."

He still cannot understand. "Why...why are you only telling me this...?"

"As I said before, I turned my back to Rowena and to the Soarta. I believed everything she told us was a lie. We lost our faith in her. All of us excpet Rowena and Margaux. They worked for her until their last breath."

"Then why now, mom? Why now when everything is already complicated?" may inis sa kaniyang tono. "We have been looking for a person who can help us. You know that but you did nothing. Why now?"

"Because something is about to happen and I need you to be ready for it," mabilis niyang sagot. Her eyes weakened. "It is something that is inevitable. The emperor showing up is a sign that this event will occur no matter how hard we try to stop it."

"You said no one knew about the former empress being pregnant? Then why are you expecting the emperor to come?"

Ang dami niyang tanong. And the more his mother answers him, mas dumadami ang kaniyang tanong.

"We were told the emperor will come as the trigger. It wasn't said who it was. We were thinking it was another demon who managed to climb up to the highest-ranking," she defended and sighed. "We did not know the emperor the Soarta was talking about is the descendant of the former Absolutes. She was never specific to her words."

"What...what will happen?"

Michelle kept her mouth shut, hesitant.

"What will happen, mom? Tell me!"

"The one who is said to destroy the world by the queen herself is coming."

"Coming? Going to destroy the world? Lissa said it was the mistress and I-" he paused after realizing what he just said. "You...you don't mean...?"

Why did he only realize it now?

"The reason why Rowena had to separate you from her. The reason why Lissa was desperate to take the both of you," she again shut her eyes. "The fruit of your blood is the queen's greatest fear."

"There is no way that would happen." Stein left his seat. "There is no way the mistress and I will have a child? That will never happen!"

"But it is already happening, Stein. She knows this already."
