They have a wispy tails. Unlike most rodents, they don't gnaw very great, they also don't store food but forage regularly. Like lizards, Gundi sunbathe themselves which is uncommon for mammals to do desert climates. If food is plentiful, they'll live in colonies and has temporary homes (the terrain also affects the colonies). The colonies are made up of juveniles, male and females. Each family has it's own territory. Each species has it's own unique call, the North African will chirp.
