The Taipan is a solitary snake. They hunt during daylight hours and are also scent hunters. Young Taipan's major predator is the monitor lizards. Even though Taipans are shy, their venom is highly toxic. The Coastal Taipan has a pale head and is usually brown. Taipans are the few Australian snakes that like to consume mammals.
