I called Amber later that day. She told me how her day went and I told her about what happened with Jace and what he said about feeling protective over me. She told me not to worry about it until he proves himself otherwise and that if he hurts me to tell her because she'll come here and beat his ass for me. I had fun talking to her but soon her mom was telling her dinner was ready and we said our goodbyes. Isn't it ironic that every time we talk on the phone her mom calls her down for dinner?
I haven't eaten anything since this morning so I decide to go downstairs to make something for me to eat. It didn't take long to make something since I am not very hungry at the time and I'm just eating to eat. When I'm done eating, I wash my plate and head back to my room to do my homework.
I must have gotten lost in my school work because next thing I know I hear the front door open and then get slammed shut making me jump.
I looked at the time; 10:30 pm. I can hear heavy footsteps coming up the stairs and it sounds like a herd of cows. I feel my heart speed up as the footsteps get closer to my door. I close my eyes, chanting slowly to myself "Please, don't be drunk".
I open my eyes and look out my window to make sure no one is in the room next door. I haven't put up a sheet yet or anything for that matter and I don't want them to see anything. I hear my dad getting closer and fear overwhelms me so I back up against the window looking towards my door, anticipating the inevitable. As he slams my door open my heart sinks to my stomach. To my greatest fear he is indeed drunk. This time, though, he isn't alone. There is another man with him and the look on his face scares the crap out of me. I don't like the look he is giving me but for a moment we all stand there looking at each other not moving. My father's eyes fall on me and they are full of darkness, like bottomless pits, but he looks angrier than usual. My breathing picks up incredibly and comes out rigged. My whole body is shaking like a leaf against the wind.
I watch helplessly as my father crosses the room. I close my eyes just as his hand connects with my right cheek causing my head to snap to the side. The force of the blow sends me flying on the floor and I hit my head on the side of my desk causing blackness to curl in front of my eyes. I shake my head a little bit and my vision slowly returns.
I look up to my dad standing over me. I want to say something but when I open my mouth to talk he kicks me in my ribs. A sickening crack fills the air around us as I cry out in pain. I bit down on my tongue hoping that the people next door didn't hear me. I must have bit down too hard though because my mouth fills with a metallic taste.
"You're a poor excuse of a daughter," he yells at me as he lands another blow to my face.
I close my eyes as I lay there in pain. My body is hurting so bad and I can feel the blood running down from my face from where I hit the desk. My lip is busted and bleeding too, but my ribs overpower any other pain surrounding my body. Laughing is coming from somewhere around my room, but I can't determine from where. The laugh is evil and sends shivers down my spine. I shut my eyes tighter. Just hearing that laugh makes me feel sick and tears start coming out from my closed eyes.
"Awe! What's wrong? Your little friend is not here to help you? I know she knows. Do you want to know how I know," he asks me with an evil voice kicking my side again causing me to cry out in pain.
"I know because of the way she looks at me. I thought I told you not to say anything about this to anyone. Tell me, how she figured it out," he asks me with venom in his voice and leans down to grab my jaw hard making me look up at him. When I don't respond he gets madder and punches me in the jaw.
"Well, I am waiting," he yells in my face.
"S-she walked in o-on me laying on t-the floor o-one day," I barely get out. After I explain, he stands up and stares at me with a look of disgust.
