My Unexpected Saviors

I cover my laugh with my pillow while Dom is full on laughing. We finally calm down and I lay on my back looking up at the ceiling. It is quiet for a few seconds and I can hear his steady breathing over the phone.

"I miss you", I whisper.

"I miss you too, babe, but don't worry I'll be home Saturday", he reassures me.

"It's been boring without you here", I said rolling to my side.

"Yeah, I can hardly concentrate during workouts because my mind wanders to you", I can hear the smile in his voice making me smile as well.

After my movie night with Amber I decided to call Dom. I needed to hear his voice after what Jay pulled. I needed Dom but his voice is all I can get right now.

Sighing I say, "I wish I was there with you"

I hear him shuffle a little, "What's wrong, babe, talk to me", he says softly.

Should I tell him?

"Amber and I went to see her parents and then we went to the mall", I start, "But as we were at the food court at the mall, we ran into our old friends", I sigh heavily.

He hums into the phone, "What did they say", he asks.

"The same crap as before but my ex-boyfriend tried to say he still loves me so I told him that I don't love him anymore and that I found someone better than him", I hold my breath once I finish waiting for his reaction.

"Did he hurt you", he asks.

"No", I rush out.

"Did he try to touch you", he asks next.

"No, he didn't. We were in the mall", I point out.

He hummed, "Okay, then I don't have to beat him up"

I start laughing, "I love you, babe"

He chuckles lightly, "I love you, too"

I look at the time; 1:32 am. We have been on the phone since ten at night, a total of four hours, "Babe, we have been on the phone for four hours or so", I say smiling.

"Well, would you look at that', he says clearly amused.

"Am I keeping you up too late", I ask feeling bad. He might be tired tomorrow.

"No, babe, you're good. I really needed to hear your voice", he states.

"Okay, only if you're sure", I ask again.

"I'm sure but don't you have school in the morning", he asks.

"Yeah, I do", I say sadly.

"We probably should call it a night. You're going to be tired tomorrow", we both sigh at the same time.

Sighing once again I know he is right, "Okay, good night babe. I love you", I say closing my eyes for a moment.

"Love you too, babe and good night", he says.

I stay on the phone and no one hangs up. I listen to his breathing over the phone with my eyes closed. My body is starting to feel heavy and before I fully fall asleep I hear Dom whisper, "I love you", one last time.

I roll to my side hitting something hard. I frown move my hand over it trying to figure what I left in the bed with me that can be so hard. This thing feels warm and cozy making me frown and move closer to it. I feel something wrap around me and my eyes snap open. I lift my head up and come face to face with Dom's smiling one.
