Here we are, in the kitchen, cooking dinner for us and the girls. I didn't know that when we agreed to the bet, we would be losing because there are four of us and only two of them. I have to admit, though, that it was fun trying to figure out where she was hiding. What shocked me the most was how she was able to hide behind that bush and we didn't know until she took off running. They are very smart!

"I would have never took that bet if I knew that they were going to hustle", Chris whines bringing me out of my thoughts and I smirk nodding.

"I know, man, it was crazy. They are like ninjas", Nick adds while putting the bisques into the oven and we all chuckle.

"Man, I had no idea that they were going to turn around when they did. They can run", Jace adds and I smile. Niykee really can run but then I frown; should she have been running? She just got out of the hospital. I shake that from my mind and look around the kitchen. Everything is set and Nick just went out back to start the BBQ while I cover the chicken so flies or other bugs don't get to it.

"Hey, let's go see what the girls are up to while we wait for the grill to heat up", I tell the boys and they all nod in agreement. We walk towards the living room were the girls are located but immediately stop at the entrance when I hear them talking. I look in the room where the girls are and I see them sitting on the sofa and Niykee's head is on Amber's lap.

"Amber", Niykee's voice is no more than a soft whisper and Amber hums in response, "Do they still ask about me", I frown at her words. Who is she talking about?

Amber sighs, "Do you want the truth or the lie 'truth'", Amber asks her a little worried and no one says anything for a few minutes.

"Just tell me the truth", Niykee finally says at her. I look at the boys and they shrug at me and we all look towards the girls awaiting for Amber's answer.

"Yes, they do. It gets me mad to the core that they have had all this time to make things right. They could have stayed and told you to 'shut the fuck up' like I did. I knew that there was no way in hell, I was going to let you go and I put my foot down and stayed", Amber stops talking and takes a big breath in, "They have no right to come to me and ask where you disappeared off too. They had three fucking years to make things right but chose to do it after you were gone", Amber's voice is getting pissed and louder by the minute, "I have to confess something", Amber continues softer this time and you can hear the nervousness in her voice. Niykee sits up and looks over at Amber worriedly, "I fought Lacy that day because she wouldn't stop asking about you. I told her to piss off but she didn't so we fought. Well...more like I fought and she just laid there", Amber finishes and Niykee surprises all of us by starting to laugh.

"Oh, my god, you lying bitch", she yells out and laughs even more, "That's why your mom grounded you", she bends over grabbing her stomach laughing louder. Amber hits her on the head and starts laughing, saying a quick 'shut up' to her.

I'm starting to feel really bad for listening to their conversation so I look at the boys and tilt my head towards the living room. We walk into the room smiling and the girls look over at us and smile the best they can. I sit next to Niykee, she leans into me and I wrap my arms around her and kiss her forehead. I feel so content right here. I, just, want to hold her forever and never let her go. I lean back so that she's almost lying on top of me and I feel her snake her arms around my torso and then she lays her head on my chest.

"How's dinner coming along", Amber asks looking at us in awe then at everyone else.

"Good, we are waiting for the grill to heat up so we can put the chicken to cook", Nick answers her and I notice how Amber blushes and looks away. I smirk at the action; there's something between them, I know it.
