I closed my eyes and leaned back onto the wall. I let out a sigh as I knew what I had doomed myself to. But, strangely, I was happy. I smiled, knowing I had just saved a life in return for mine. I wasn't even concerned about the rotting creatures coming towards me. Thier teeth about to sink into my skin, ending my life here, but bringing me back from the dead.
I felt a tug on my sleeve, making me tense up. I knew all the pain and misery that would soon occur. Before I could think of anything else something wet and slimy dragged across cheek. I shook my head violently and snapped my eyes open to see what had caused that sensation. I was met with two dark brown eyes staring into mine. I stepped back to get a better look, not believing what I was seeing. I was filled with waves of relief and surprise. I suddenly felt so weak as I collapsed to the ground, weeping silently. But I was not crying because of sadness, they were tears of joy. I grinned the widest grin I ever had as I looked into his eyes once more. I wrapped my arms around him for a few seconds, breathlessly whispering into his ears.
     "You're alive."
