I reached my hand into the dust and picked up the object. I studied in my hand, it was some sort of locket or tag. I opened the object slowly, an if it were so fragile even the slightest touch could shatter it into pieces. As I opened it I was met with the most heart breaking scene. The locket had a picture of the beast with a little girl. The girl had brown curly locks of hair. A sweet smile, and crystal blue eyes. Her face was soft yet strong looking. She had a small button nose with pink cheeks. She was adorable, even with the menacing beast beside her face. On the locket, a name was engraved. It read "Jewel and Rocket." Tears sprang to my eyes as I stared at the locket. I started to weep at the sight of it, so I stuck it in my pocket and regretted killing the beast whose name was Rocket. I had once lost a pet, his name was Ash. A beautiful, strong dog that would protect me at all costs. He protected me with his life.
I was on my way home from school, Ash by my side. Trotting next to me, his tounge hanging out of his mouth. I love that dog more than anything. My dad had trained him since he was a puppy, always giving him tests on strength and agility. Ash was amazing at everything. Except one thing, patience.
