I snapped my eyes shut as the bullet whizzed past my face making, my ears ring. Blood shot up into the air, raining back down onto the ground. The bullet had nicked my ear and hit something behind me. The impact sound was horrible, it was a crunching sound. You could hear everything break and give away. My ears were still ringing when I opened my eyes to gaze upon the girl. My eyes were wide with terror, but hers seemed calm now. Her breathing had slowed but mine kept racing, making me hyperventilate. She easily rested a hand onto my shoulder in an attempt to comfort me.
I was frozen, I couldn't move. I was still in shock from what had just happened. She slowly took her hand off my shoulder and begun to reach for my arm. I reached for her hand, grasping it into mine. She darted her eyes up to me, hesitating before she moved. Her eyes full of surprise and a little flicker of admiration, she slowly turned and started to walk to the corner leading to the street.
Right before we got to the corner I whipped my head around, wanting to see what had been crippled by the bullet. There was a heap of one of the flesh eating creatures. I looked back at her with admiration and respect consuming my feelings. We got to the corner and she peeked her head around, making sure the coast was clear. Once she had confirmed that it was remotely safe, we ran.
