After hours of walking in silence, we come up to a type of ridge, one that looks out over everything below. I was still too far away to be able to see anything; just like when you get to a good part in a book and then everything changes, your memories of the book just kind've...fade.
Sean is still walking close to me, about an arms length away, he was staring at the ground now instead of keeping watch like we should've been. Me and him were assigned to keep watch for the undead while everyone else rested for the night. Sean seemed to have to watch me more than the cruel creatures out there in the world, but he ever made eye contact after he was pulled to the side to talk with the red-haired guy. I wonder what they talked about.
Sean was leaning against a tree, his gun at his side. I slowly make my way over to him, trying to make it seem like I'm not aiming to go to him; I failed miserably.
"What are you doing?" He lifts his head up to ask me, this is the first time tonight that he made eye contact with me.
I find myself at a loss for words, I can feel a tug at the bottom of my stomach, my face burning up, everything to make me speechless. I turn away before he notices anything suspicious about me.
"Well?" He presses on with a curious look on his face.
"Well...I just wanted to talk. And ask some questions." I answer after a pause. "May I sit?"
"Knock yourself out." He says, lowering his head again, studying the butt of his gun.
I plopped down beside him, taking a deep breath as i did. "So...how's it going?" He stays quiet a minute until speaking.
"Everything's...fine." His voice is shaking, and he wont look at me. There's a sudden tenseness in the air.
"Are you okay? Like, actually okay? " I carefully set my hand on his shoulder, hoping that he knew that I wanted to comfort him. He steadily looked up at me, a small smile on his face. He let out a sigh as he laid his head on my shoulder. I immediately tensed up, feeling the blood rush to my face. I still can't understand why this happens everytime im around him, and i refuse to say that I love him.
"Hey," his sudden speech yanked me out of my trance," you wanna know the truth? Ill tell ya."
His next words surprised more than I ever thought.
